VIBE called 1993 RnB's Best Year Ever (Kellz Related)

heres what they said about kellz...on page 71 in the new vibe with The Game on the front...

singer/songwriter/producer was a candidate legitamite enough to sit at the table with marvin gaye, al green, and barry white.
so from the way they worded it that Kellz isnt a legitamite candidate anymore....whats your thoughts on this???
Psychopaths have a Hidden Content and grossly inflated view of their own Hidden Content and importance, a truly astounding egocentricity and sense of entitlement, and see themselves as the center of the universe, justified in living according to their own rules.

Psychopaths show a stunning lack of concern for the effects their actions have on others, no matter how devastating these might be. They may appear completely forthright about the matter, calmly stating that they have no sense of guilt, are not sorry for the ensuing pain, and that there is no reason now to be concerned.

Many of the characteristics displayed by psychopaths are closely associated with a profound lack of empathy and inability to construct a mental and emotional "facsimile" of another person.

Psychopaths seem to suffer a kind of emotional poverty that limits the range and depth of their feelings. At times they appear to be cold and unemotional while nevertheless being prone to dramatic, shallow, and short-lived displays of feeling.
Obligations and commitments mean nothing to psychopaths.

But here is the crux: Psychopaths don't feel they have psychological or emotional problems, and they see no reason to change their behavior to conform with societal standards they do not agree with.

I say Vibe is wrong. He's clearly more of a legitimate candidate right now than he was in 1993 IMO. Back in 1993 he had a past of New Jack Swing, right now he has 'Chocolate Factory', 'Loveland' & 'Happy People/U Saved Me' in his past... no further comments needed...

i got the magazine. they are saying how 12 Play shaped the Decade of R&b which i agree with. 93 was arguably the last year where straight ahead R&b counted. as for R.Kelly, well He out-lived New Jack swing still is counting as we speak some 13 almost 14 years later since "12 Play"&IMO His Self title Album, Chocolate Factory along with a couple of Other Albums&a gang-load of tracks has made him the most Important Artist from R&B in the 90's&00's easily. as a Writer(Which Jay Z said, that R.kelly is the Best Writer of His Generation) Producer,Artist,etc... He has no peer&left his peers in the dust. I mean aside from Mary J.Bliege,Mariah Carey&mayBe Brian Mcknight where are Kellz's Peers at? how many other acts from that time period let alone New Jack Swing are still around? I mean Babyface played out almost 10 years back. Teddy Riley been done for over a decade.Ralphael Sadiaaq from Tony,Toni,Tony does more behind the scenes stuff, but ain't where he was in 93. I could go on,but you have pretty much figured that R.Kelly is one of the few remaining acts from the 90's&the New Jack Swing era. and One of the very few that still counts. I mean all these Rappers&Younger R&B Male&female acts ain't working with anybody else hardly but Kellz. Chocolate Factory IMO is a Better Album than 12 Play, but 12 Play has those memorys&moments where so many of us can relate to along with the fact that "Your Body's callin, Bump&Grind,12 Play,etc... still hold up really well.

IMO Vibe'S Right. 1993 Strickly The Best Era Of R. Kelly. 12 Play Songs Will Never Be Exceeded. Ain'T No Comparison With Chocolate Factory Album. That One Was Good But Too Far From The First 3 Albums Which Were Perfect.

    Peace.

I would need to read the entire article to see how they are writing it. Is it possible they are saying "was" because 1993 was the past? I have to see the entire context of the article before making a decision.

I think Vibe is wrong, I fail to see how you can come up with 'I Believe I Can Fly, I'm Your Angel, the Down Low saga, ghetto soap series, Soldier's Heart, HP/USM and Trapped' and somehow lose candidacy

    page 71

heres what was said about kellz...Not to be outdone in November... 25 yr old R kelly released the generations definitive sex album 12 play (jive), a sensual, soulful,ultra-unfiltered R&B statement that served that the up and coming singer/songwriter/producer was a candidate legitamite enough to sit at the table with marvin gaye, al green, and barry white.

so what i'm getting out of this is that vibe is saying kellz was legitamite enough back then to be considered to be on their level, but not now...
