I don't think anyone said that but perhaps he felt that he needed to put Trey in his place by brushing up his brand/sound.

    yes and no

yes because Trey ain't got half the catelog or track record as Kellz and more than likely unless Kellz clones some of musical DNA into Trey's it ain't going to happen.

No because again its this hot shot kid taking shots at the Vet and folks at the barbershop on through are wagging at how this will all play out.

love letter to me was a personal album on different levels

one it was his break up album

his reflections of music and artists who inspired and influenced him

and his answer back to the young bucks who question his relevence and also this critics who thought he had lost a step or two

he answered back in 3 ways IMO.

While I agree that Trey wasn't the sole reason; it must have played a role in the decision to release Love Letter.

I feel like LL was ready a while before it actually came out and he probably wanted to release it earlier but the label maybe felt Untitled stood a better chance and tried to push that instead. He obviously didn't buy that idea.

He released LL as he probably saw that while almost everyone felt Trey was out of line, most people also agreed with Trey that he couldn't innovate like he once did. So LL was done to shut all those doubting his talent up.

    My theory though...
Love is strong; Love is tight

LMFAO!! no...he...didnt. now I KNOW Goat Songz wanna be like Kelly so bad. I wonder if he has his own forum for a journal & professes his love for Kelly everyday in it. I would love to see what it says "Day 14. aw man I loved my dad R. Kelly's Sam Cooke performance. lemme see if I can do one too oooh." wow. yea needless to say he failed miserably.

Goat's obsession with Kellz is so odd. That video darnell posted was uploaded in early-mid 2010 and he's imitating Kellz Sam Cooke performance from the LMSN tour. Seriously, wtf.

Also let's not forget that performance on Wendy Williams, it was a month after Kellz epic Soul Train Awards performance. Goat was suited up with a bow tie, sunglasses and even tried to imitate Kellz WAWL gestures throughout the performance. Ugh. I can't. He's too obsessed, lmfao.

well you know they say imitation is the greatest form of flattery and Kellz likes that, however Kellz would enjoy if the cat found some serious songs and give him some real competition.

only if Trey could come up with some top notch material.

Trey better be careful or he will be a tribute act on the BET Award shows and other shows and seen as a novelty act.

folks gotta understand you gotta have songs to be even in a discussion. Trey is truly right now a Never is and bordering on a Never was unless he gets a song that says hey, check this out.

dude been around almost a decade and still hasn't made that mark yet.

alot of acts have covered Sam Cooke and tried to emulate his thing. Cooke had balance and was smooth and direct between his gospel work and his R&B work. that versatility is where I see Kellz influenced directly by Cooke.

Trey has to understand its more than covering said act, you have to become one with the song.

I'd never thought about it until I saw this thread. Good question.
