It's not really about his career imo. It's his personal bullshit. He has proven that his career can blossom in the midst of ugly circumstances. If 2002 didn't end his career, all these new "minor" things won't either. It's not really huge bad press, it's just bad press that adds to the rest of his stuff. People have gotten immune, I think. Besides, from an international point of view, his career is no longer big enough to get people talking much about him, be it positive or negative. At least that's what I'm witnessing. The rumors and true stories won't bring him down.

The personal aspect of all his problems is more severe. Since he's obviously not maturing emotionally, it will be hard for him to add quality music to his catalogue. And it's only that lack of musical quality that can bring his career down. Not the public attention that is caused by his personal escapades.

International exposure for someone like R.Kelly is difficult when you have new acts making their mark. Survival of the young and fittest. R.Kelly himself was once putting acts from the 70s and 80s on the shelf. Circle of life.

The fact is that despite all of this his carrer is very healthy.

I just think that its on the brink of permanently rubber-stamping him a "weirdo". I know a lot of people already feel that way. But its superficial. The court case is weak and will be dismissed. But these substantiated claims about the Daniels' daughter and the rumors about the Idol singer and his problems with his wife just add salt to a VERY large wound.

What im worried about is that now record companies and artists themselves will just choose a different route because they dont want to be near any of that mess. They just dont want to fuck with it anymore.

Sure he gets through it and HAS gotten through it but how much longer can his personal life and the Industry take? At some point people arent going to want to fuck with anymore...

I think his career can take a lot. Damn the whole case didn't hurt his career 5 years back. The only thing i'm worried about is that he won't get to work with some people of the industry anymore. He needs to sit his ass down and clear his mind. When you say R. Kelly people don't talk about his music anymore you just hear about his case and all the shit (rumors or not) that is coming right now just adds salt on the wound.

GOOD FREAKIN QUESTION. I asked myself the same thing. But I really think his career will be fine. It's taken blow after blow but the reality is the man makes good music. And that's what people come back for again and again. That's how a lot of people I know feel. They loathe him as a person but they always buy his albums when they come out because they can't deny his musical talent. But his personal life really needs some work because I don't see how any good music can come out of this.

musically he has to get it back to the soul, but the cat has said and has proven he does his best work with his back up against the wall, but he shouldn't have to resort to that tactic to Prove his importance.

he can't go without some drama. he embraces all of it and then makes it work. Kellz puts me in the frame of mind of Sam cooke, 2Pac, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson with dealing with obvious demons and things.

something has to give with what direction he will go in.

Rob is Great, but he's needs to take affirmative action to ensure his greatness is recognised and remembered!

I think there's a limit to what his career can take and it's getting there. There's a constant barrage of bad news/gossip/rumor and it's starting to wear me down. It's made me question Kells the man. I'm still hoping for everything to work out for him, but it's a drag to have to be on the defensive for him so often. The die hard fans will still be there, but others may not want to deal with his drama.

I agree. The limit is almost there in my opinion. Now, I don't know much about the legal system in the US but I'm afraid that the story with George Daniels daughter will have a bad influence on the case, especially of the decision of then jury. If the case really comes to an end in may I'm afraid he might be found guilty. If he won't, I hope that he will get his personal life back on track and find his way back to REAL music. This is the only way in my opinion that fans and public will almost completely forget about what happened before.
