No the lyrics are not too explicit or too sexual...he's singing what grown folk are doing and that's the kind of shit we want to hear from him.

I got one point. I hope he sings his sexual songs when he himself is really into the emotion, period. He seems to be too conscious of his duty to give it to his fans when it comes down to sex tunes. Many other commercial artists think about the duty to cater to their respective fan base. BUT, I hope it ain't the case he does it just to give what he thinks they need. It should be his music sometimes. He can be more egotistical and selfish, which means more authenticity in his lyrics. We'd be blessed to connect with him on that level and he'd be more satisfied.

I didn't vote. It ain't a matter of so-called explicitness at the end of the day, to me. It's a matter of soulfulness and authenticity whatever he sings about, including sex. When I can't feel it, I find it empty and boring.

In fact, I think not too many is bold enough to make authentic, soulful sex tunes with implicit lyrics that will be heard by the public. You don't have the courage to put out your private act and feelings such as intimacy, so the words are more likely to get implicit to express that in the form of art. That's why I believe in his implicit sexual tunes more and he is truly bold to do that with his musical greatness. I can think of them something like his own. There's more of him (and his woman) and more soul, IMO. Explicit lyrics can be a mask after all cuz you can make it sexy as a formula and can sell (sex sells) without putting yourself wholly out there. It's easier to hide behind explicitness.

And from an individual female's perspective, I don't find the lyrics for some tunes off 12 Play series attractive. Esp. boastful, self-confident lines. Some of y'all might relate to this.

the only thing that has changed imo is that theres more frankness and openess....kelly no longer leaves anything to the imagination. that maybe good for some, and not so good for others. i had some great sex to 12 play 4th Quarter, so its officially christened.

I was just fooling around a little with all of those smileys since I found your idea with that petition kinda silly. In fact there are no metaphor songs on the 4th Quarter and I am thankful that he leaves them aside for a while.

Kells gotta be reppin the bedroom when he does a 12 Play album. even when he's being "crude," there's a playfulness and a sweetness to the way he sings it. like he's more concerned about getting the girl to come than about him coming (which is the mentality to have if you wanna please a girl).
