    R Kelly Real Rhapsody Feature

Genius Love Genius R Kelly’s picks

R Kelly's segment on Real Rhapsody these are his picks for favorite celebrity songs.

    And Track comments…

    Stevie Wonder /Master Blaster Jammin
There is a riff on there that is the hardest riff in the world to get

The Isley Brothers/ Groove With You
He made everything alright when we were struggling growing up

    Elvis Presley /Hound Dog
People around here call me the black Elvis and I am inspired by that

Aretha Franklin /(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman
I still make the same faces when she riffs, and she riffs like no other. Very soulful, church, party, boogie and passionate

    Al Green /Lets Stay Together
I mean what I say, because Al Green meant what he said, he was talking about us as a people

    Marvin Gaye/ What’s Going On
He knew how to take an issue an sing about it, so that you were forced to stop and listen to it. It made you humble

    Tina Turner /Proud Mary
One favorites from Tina Turner, It jumps out and says hello to me

Stevie Wonder /You Are The Sunshine Of My Life
He dedicated it to his child and I have 3 of my own Stevie inspired me to be a singer and write songs of my own

Donny Hathaway / A Song For You
It’s a song I play on the piano and dedicate to my mom, no matter where I am, she loves that song

Gladys Knight and the Pips / Midnight Train To Georgia
My mom sounded like Gladys and would sing this song. It snatches you by the collar and brings you in.

    Aretha Franklin /Dr Feelgood
My mom would sing around the house and it makes me smile today, because my mom would sing it

Al Green /Everythings Gonna Be Alright
I appreciate that he was not afraid to step over, give thanks to god and sing gospel.

    Lionel Richie/ Truly
This song captivated the world, he was always on point, made sure the melody, lyric and concept were framed beautifully.

    Tina Turner /Private Dancer
I grew up with this one

The Isley Brothers/ Between The Sheets
He is like a father to me. He inspired me to be in this forever.

    Marvin Gaye Sexual Healing
He healed my community and the world

    Michael Jackson /Thiller
It changed the world, made us say wow, there are no rules in music

    Elvis Presley/ Love Me Tender
He sang in his movies, and that is pretty much what I do with Trapped In The Closet

    James Brown/ Funky Good Time
That’s what I like to have, even now today, a funky good time.

    Billie Holiday/ Solitude
I go to bed to Billie Holiday every night

Those are some strong songs. I'm surprised he didn't mention a Gap Band song.

This is a nice post. I love to get a little more insight into his thoughts on life and music, who his inspirations are since he inspires so many.

Yea! Great read. I always dig him speaking on music whether it's his own or others'. Thanx for sharing. He could've mentioned more artists, but I think he just didn't say all of them he got inspired by. The full list would be very longer than this.
