    _______

The attention of Nigerian Breweries Plc has been drawn to a misleading news report carried by some News Media alleging that some people died at the star mega jam concert which ended in Abuja early Sunday morning.

Nigerian Breweries wishes to state categorically that the story is completely false and without any substance. NOBODY DIED at the concert as alleged. There were reported cases of minor injury sustained by 13 people as a result of the rush that occurred when a huge crowd of people tried to gain entry into the venue.

Those injured were promptly taken to the National Hospital, Abuja, for further treatment by the Critical Rescue International team which had 3 Ambulances on ground. The hospital authorities have confirmed that the injured have been treated and discharged.

The concert, like the Lagos leg attracted a huge crowd which is normal for a concert featuring an A-list artiste like R Kelly. We thank those who have called in to confirm this report and urge the general public to discountenance this false reports .The concert as confirmed by many was a huge success.

Nigerian Breweries Plc wishes to use this opportunity to thank all who attended the concerts both in Lagos and Abuja for their support and patronage over the years.

How Abuja rocks for R. Kelly
    23 Dec 2010
This year’s edition of the Star Mega Jam held on December 17, in Lagos, and December 18, in Abuja, lived up to the hype preceding it, as the biggest musical activation of the year.

    R-Kelly
This year’s headliner, international R & B superstar, R. Kelly, who performed at both venues, threw the enthusiastic crowd into a musical frenzy, as he sang some of his greatest hits to their delight.

The audience sang along to his musical rendition, which included hits such as ‘Happy People’, ‘Fiesta’, ‘Bump & Grind’ and ‘Snake’, among other musical hits. At intervals, the musical superstar would acknowledge the cheers from the crowd, revealing that he did not know he had such a huge fan base in Nigeria.

Thrilling the Lagos crowd who trooped out to the Polo Ground, Lagos, venue of this year’s Star Mega Jam, were the dynamic duo of P Square, who serenaded the crowd with their deft dance steps while rendering some of their greatest hits. Musical sensation, 9ice also performed a medley of his songs while Nigerian rap star, MI, for the first time performed songs from his recently released album titled MI2.

Rounding off the musical concert was the Mo Hits crew comprising Dr. Sid, D’Prince and Wande Coal who kept the crowd roaring for more of their songs. Other acts that performed in Lagos were Jukebox, Diamonds and KC Presh, earlier winners of the Star Quest, which is a platform created by Star lager beer to discover fresh musical talents.

    A grand entrance

After an unexplained hiatus of thirty minutes probably due to technical hitch, some members of the crowd resorted to sleeping on the floor and chairs. The main act for the night appeared on the stage with massive acoustics, swathed in a shining white ankle length jacket and reeled his classical hits which got virtually everyone up on their feet. With hits spanning over two decades, the Piped Piper, as he is often called, sang numbers from his days in the group ‘Public Announcement' to his penultimate album but disappointedly failed to give the Lagos crowd a feel of his new album ‘Loveletter' released three days to the gig. R Kelly's lewd and sensual lyrics had the audience aptly singing along with the musical icon.

His musical brilliance came to fore when he did a track probably for the ladies in the crowd, asking if "she has a passport ready, because he wants to take someone to America." The eventual lucky girl, who was at the edge of the stage responded to R kelly, screaming ‘‘YES'' and the artiste demanded the lady should be taken after the show to confirm her passport "because I'm gonna take her to America," he said.

Affirming this concert as his second visit to Nigeria, Kelly serenaded the crowd with a variety of his sensual voice,he performed yet another unknown track ‘Twenty-Two' to thank his fans who he said have been very supportive of his career in his twenty-two years stint in the industry. An interesting part of R kelly's performance was his stern warning to a member of the crowd who he spotted as he was about to indiscriminately throw his cup into the air, an act that the host had been condemning all night long. The Chicago born artiste rounded off his hour long, amusing, and interactive performance with the hit track, ‘Happy people'-the original and the remix and this sent the entire audience into a lover's field as everyone held out to a partner to perform the dance steps as seen in the song's video.
