Default R.Kelly to feature in Star Megajam 2010

Nigerian Breweries Plc has announced the performers for this year's edition of the popular Star Megajam Concert. The organisers announced today, during a brief press event, that R&B superstar, R.Kelly, will headline this year's show, alongside Nigerian stars; Timaya, 9ice, Psquare, Mohits Crew, MI, Dbanj and KC Presh. Past winners of NB talent hunt STAR Quest are also on the bill.

This will be R.Kelly's second visit to Nigeria. Last year, he made his first trip to the country when he featured on the Thisday Music Festival.

Star Mega Jam began in 2000.The debut featured the Makossa music exponent - Awilo Logomba, followed in 2001 with the performance of Mr. Lover, Lover - Shaggy. The 2002 edition featured Grammy Awards winner, Usher Raymond. In 2003, Koffi Olumide, the acclaimed father of Soukous, was on hand; while American rap sensation, 50 Cent, featured in 2004.

The next year, 2005, brought the duo of Ja Rule and Kevin Lyttle. Another duo, LL Cool J and Akon, took the stage in 2006; and in 2007, the Multi-Grammy Awards winner and American sensation, Kanye West, and T-Pain were on hand to thrill consumers in a breath taking, all-time best performance that took them to both Lagos and Abuja. In 2008, Nelly and Nas thrilled Nigerian music, while in 2009, Busta Rhymes and Ludacris took the show to a whole new level.

This year's event will hold at the Polo Club Grounds, in Lagos, on December 17, and in Abuja, the following day.

I read somewhere he was coming to Africa in December. I thought his album release and all the other lined up projects might have made him shelve that
Glad to know he is coming to my country.
    Thanks Exit for posting.

When you ask most people down here who their best artiste is (musically), there is a 99.9% chance that they are gonna say R. KELLY!

My only issue with this is the security at Star Mega Jam shows is usually loose.

I hope they'll sort it out because this is the biggest star they've brought...

Most of all, I'm thankful that he personally loves going to Africa and the demand matches his own desire. Sounds like a winning combination all around, right?
