stomp Kellz Article from Chi University Gets EVERYTHING WRONG?!

Two things before you start reading:

    1. Another Chicago publication picking on Chicago talent.
    2. If this is the "researching/fact-finding" that the Northwestern University school of journalism likes to publish......they need help.

Paris Hilton. Nicole Richie. Nick Nolte. Lil’ Kim. Lindsay Lohan. Mel Gibson. These six stars are just a handful of Hollywood celebrities perceived as believing they live above the law, despite having spent time in police custody.
In an interview on CNN’s Larry King Live Wednesday night, King asked Hilton—recently released from a 23-day prison stay—if she felt that she got a raw deal, legally speaking.
Hilton, who violated her court-ordered probation last January for driving under the influence of liquor, responded: “Yes, I do.”
Surprisingly, the problem with celebrities believing that their fame automatically gives them a get out of jail free card is not just a problem in Los Angeles. Chicago is home to stars who have served time in prison or who are trying to avoid trading in their designer duds for orange jump suits.
R & B singer and Chicago native R. Kelly, along with ex-Chicago Bears defensive lineman Tank Johnson, are two local stars facing criminal charges.
Kelly, 30, is charged with 14 counts of child pornography for allegedly videotaping himself engaging in sex acts with an underage girl. The Cook County state’s attorney’s office filed the charges in June 2002 after a videotape received anonymously by the Chicago Sun-Times was turned over to the authorities.
However, it has been five years and this case has still not gone to trial.
In the meantime, Kelly, who is out on $750,000 bond, has released a new CD, Double Up, which sold more than 8 million copies. He also has taped a music video in Atlanta with fellow rapper Usher and has been spotted partying at nightclubs like Le Passage in Chicago’s posh Gold Coast neighborhood.
Kelly, who oozes confidence that he will beat the rap, recently told Soul Magazine, “My greatest competition is, well, me.” Later, adding, “I’m the Martin Luther King, or all of the other greats that have come before us. And a lot of people are starting to realize that now.”
Calls to Kelly’s lead attorney Ed Genson about his client's status were not immediately returned.
But why has Kelly’s case been on sabbatical?
Questions of this nature are hard to answer because Judge Vincent Gaughan, who presides over Kelly’s case recently imposed a gag order, stopping anyone involved with the case from discussing it outside of the courtroom.
If convicted will the renowned Kelly--like Paris Hilton--do his time with the general prison population, or will he be separated, like Paris? That will be determined by the Illinois Department of Corrections.
As for the troubled Johnson, a recent arrest in Arizona for driving under the influence violated his probation and led to his dismissal from the Chicago Bears. Johnson, who was recently released from prison after serving two months for a weapons charge conviction, could get another jail sentence.
During his two-month prison stay, Johnson was housed in a private cell away from the general population of inmates. If and when he returns, similar conditions could apply.
So what do Chicagoans think of Chicago stars landing behind bars?
Some say they resent stars who think they are above the law and that they should receive punishments just like everyone else. That may be the majority view, and it is neatly summed up by Heather Meibach, 25, a conference service manager at the University of Chicago.
“They should be held accountable for their actions,” she said. I agree that Tank Johnson and R. Kelly have talent, but why should talent make you invisible from the law?
Meibach also says she feels disgust toward bigger stars like Hilton who has everything yet acts recklessly. “I am glad Paris had to tough it out. Going to jail is so not hot regardless of how much lip gloss you apply in the slammer,” she added.

    LOL @30yrs old & 8 Million sold.

Must be from some student blog at Northwestern. Just like that dip-shit gym teacher chick down in Miami.

It's journalism 101. Who's an easy target to pick on? Kells is.

Even when found not guilty, most articles will forever mention this crap. If Chicago had so much hate for Kells, he would have moved long ago, but he ain't going nowhere.
