yes the album is a classic, however the follow up album, along with tp2 and chocolate factory and love letter can hang IMO.

he has evolved a whole lot more as a vocalist and songwriter and Production is more now as well.

tip your cap to past greatness, however don't act like you haven't matched it since.

evolution is the best theme to me here.

this album could still be for the grown and sexy crowd because he knows how to connect themes and make it work.
Exactly! Actually, I'd say, besides such albums as HP/USM and LL, he's always made 12 Play-esque albums with a lot of sexual songs on them. So, it's pointless to keep talking about "New 12 Play".

So true, he has been working on 3 different titles/concepts since Love Letter so like you said. I'll start to believe something when there's a release date ;)

How can you make an album like 'Love Letter' and call your album 'Black Panties'?

Out of all sites I never would've expected the hometeam to react the way y'all are just from a album title. I'm glad we getting new music as for the album title I like it its not boring it's an attention grabber. Yeah his last album was Love Letter and its strange he taking this direction but he's Kells what y'all expect. He did it in the past switch lanes quickly he can do it again. You just can't put him in a box. He's never made two albums back to back with the same sound. That's boring if y'all dont like when it drops don't buy it. I'm a ride to the end if he releases a album called kiss my ass I ain't gonna complain just as long as the music is good

I kinda off disagree with that premise. If we look at Kelly's discography, it's a lot more balance than people give him credit for. For example, I would consider Chocolate Factory has a very PG album for the most part, same with R.Kelly. The only content that's really salacious is You Remind Me of Something and even that's really tongue in cheek. And we haven't even mentioned the Epic album. And the R album is a bit of everything in it. The three 12 Play albums I'll concede obviously and DU and I'll thro Untitled into this side of the ledger, but even Born in the 90's is not that raunchy.

Eh the album title represents the material and this is a discussion; I'd rather read different opinions than everyone agreeing together.

Thurr id iz! I like the name, and even if I didnt as long as the content is tight what have I got to complain about? Plus I actually love the fact that he is potentially switching lanes. I was never behind a 'Love Letter 2', because that wouldnt have been Rob - 2 albums with the same content back to back? That 'ish is unheard of, plus I need some R.O.B bedroom bangers back in my life!

(No discredit to 'Love Letter' mind you, I love the album! )

another point: I hope this new album is not rushed and gets all the attention it deserves.
He already has some projects in store: the memoir, the Sparkle soundtrack, Ron Isley collabo, and maybe some more.
I wouldn't wanna see his regular album having to share the spotlight with these other projects.
We cherish almost each and every thing he does, but I think nothing's more important than his own studio release.

    My bad, I didn't elaborate on what I mean by "12 Play-esque".
I mean, I was talkig about the broad concept of sexuality&sensuality and it didn't always come with raunchiness.
Even 12 Play album has those tunes I would describe as sensual rather than raunchy, like, Your Body's Callin and It Seems Like You're Ready.
Sexuality&sensuality, Kellz has always written about these themes and I'm not saying it's getting boring or repetitive.
He def. has his own trademark in that element and I have no qualm with that.
I just don't think it's necessary for him to talk about "another 12 Play" when it just points at the ever-present theme, not the musical style. It could give people the impression that he's desperate for the 12 Play success and one of old cats always talking about their glory days.

I totally agree with that sentiment. Bury the 12 Play angle all together.
