yeah his ego is a bit much to say the least watching that centric special and him talking about himself in the 3rd person was a bit much after a while. and the thing is once you have reached a certain level then yes folks are left and right.

however just because you are very talented and an important musical artist doesn't mean you can't be brought down and humbled.

i think he is tired of the politics of the business as well. it works both ways.

he ain't pushing the videos and projects as much as he wants trapped in the closet to be out there.

and don't get me wrong the industry got a thing against Black acts of a certain age and that plays a part because you best believe Usher is on his last 2-3 years of a good train until he is labeled old school.

these last two albums showcase him in a more mature light and still this cat could have dropped those albums right after happy people easily and not missed a beat.

he tolerates certain things and if he wanted to make a statement then get out there and promote your stuff Man.

its well known he has yes people on the payroll and nobody to tell him anything is off because Money is Green period.

gonna be interesting if Black Panties sees the light of day.

i think he has to just do where he is at now and not trip on 12 play or the past because he is a different artist now.

Sales in truth only matter as far as him being able to put product, however in terms of rankings on the charts, etc.. he has dominated and those days are of another time and day.

i mean you make your music your way and if folks are feeling it cool, if not cool, he just has to take his thing on the road.

personally an unplugged or all live album with no medleys for 2 straight hours would shut it all down and with a live orchestra backing him and conducting like how he did that Sam Cooke tribute at his house. that's how you shut it down.

It was probably the most stupid thing to do! And things already started to change, he already has a new manager, but the "yes-men" in his camp will stay, the wrong people will probably get fired, and unless somebody can get into that stubborn head of him, i don't see any major changes on his upcoming albums! Word is that he already gave up on this album which is such a damn shame!
All i can hope for is that this mess opened his eyes!
Unfortunately, I don't see any major changes on his upcoming albums either.

I heard the same and that he's already working on the Black Panties album. A damn shame. He's actually contemplating on whether to release the Feelin' Single music video or not. I swear, he only thinks of himself. Sometimes I'm surprised at how dedicated we are to him despite his shitty attitude and overbearing ego.

I not only I purchase the CD, but all of his CD's and also the book which most of us have to wait longer while others in New York or East Coast speaks of having there copies.

I'm sorry for venting but he is getting knock around the R&B arena, 11th round and down in the scorecards no doubt. How will he recover at age 45 getting all of his fans backing him once again.

    Tell me that?
Honestly, his reign in mainstream music ended in 2007. I think the only way he could regain that popularity is if he collaborated with younger acts and put his songwriting/producing abilities behind younger acts. That's the sad truth. At this point, he's viewed as an 'old school', traditional R&B artist that appeals to the Urban AC audience, but that doesn't mean he can no longer be successful on the charts. Like I said, this album easily could've done well, I'm talking 170-200k first week with proper promotion and momentum leading up to the release but it didn't and that's why it flopped so bad. Even his singles like 'Share My Love' and 'Feelin' Single' - he never properly promoted those singles yet they reached the top 20/30 on R&B and I believe those singles could've done better with promo. It's not like Kellz has to fully depend on RCA for promotion. He could get on Twitter or Ustream and promote as well. He's RICH and could easily pay for promo too. There are many ways he can promote if he truly cared about his fans and his album.

That's probably the most unfortunate thing about this situation! If his new managers can get him to understand that: after he finished an album, he needs to promote it, make people aware of it etc. If they can get him to do that, it could lead into changes, otherwise it will be the same situation over and over. The thing is he cares more for "Black Panties" than WMB personally. If it was up to him, he wouldn't have put WMB out. Maybe his actions are a bit of strategy, since he only has 1 album left on RCA and basically just serving his contract, but either way i don't think it was right to do it with WMB, this album is way too good to go down in history with the lowest sales for an R. Kelly album! If the managers can get him to focus on this project, do some promo, a tour etc. maybe the album can go Gold, but otherwise i don't see it happen unfortunately!

There is no way this album will do 500k if it only does 65 in the first week.. Maybe if he rescheduled the TV appearances that he had to cancel but that won't happen. Hopefully it will at least manage to sell more than Untitled but I don't think it will do that either

As i see it, if he doesn't care about these projects then why should we. If his ego is that big then maybe this is the best piece of news to happen because this is ridiculous. Have you ever seen an artist that has so many cancellations for shows or performances as he does. I could care less what happens to Black Panties. That's excuse we get all the time, he's interested in the next project. Well, you gotta work like your a rookie in this game if you want to make sales. This isn't 1996, where people will just bow down to the alter of R. Kelly and buy his album just because he released one. You have to hustle. That means you have to go to the talk shows, do interviews, go to the local radio stations, etc. Don't forget a few years back when he skipped that Philly station's interview because he thought it was belittling to him to do it. Crap like that is why people don't cut him some slack when he has some drama in his life. Treat others as you wish to be treated. That's my 2 cents.

i think the politics of the game has worn at him and his own ego. love letter is a great album imo and write me back is good however he had done this type of project back with loveland and it became a bootleg "thriller" to paraphrase kellz and it was a great album that never was released.

i think he is going through the motions and he can't ever put out what he wants to,because the record company green lights certain things and other things they roll there eyes at.

feelin single outta b the song of summer and with crazy remixes, however kellz is just giving the company the barest of bare.

and the record company cash in off the back catelog anyway and the various hits packages.

if he had the right hype i stand by the 250 thousand debut because of the whitney houston tribute at the funneral alone and not to mention the lead off singles

however he ain't gotta do much aside from little promo here and there and he can this in his sleep

I think it could but it won't sell 500k as fast as Love Letter did. There are many albums that had low first week sales but went on to sell millions worldwide. I think it depends on whether he will promote the album in the future or not but who knows...

Default Write me Back will bow with 70-75k in first week sales

this really pisses me off, his promotional team needs to be fired quick, cause EVERYBODY should've known this album was dropping, I think Kelz needs to make a couple of videos(especially When a man lies) and get on these late night talk shows and tear up the stages. Don't worry about the "R" he's gonna be alright, cream always rises to the top.
