Shoot, I absolutely love when Rob/Donnie do that and I really think that they're relationship has grown over the years, and now its to the point where they are musically inseperable. When they break it down and remove all the other instruments apart from maybe the keys, and Donnie is there groovin', it just has that real authentic, old school, RnB vibe which cannot be beaten.

Donnie's role has really increased aswell, from simply Guitars on TP2, all the way to controlling studio recording sessions (as we see in the 'Hands Around The World' behind the scenes clip). He also has done some drum programming over the years. Also on that Centric Special you saw them talking a few times, and whatever Rob says, Donnie get's it without a second's thought/further explanation.

I really loved when I saw them together laying down 'Good News'. It was great to see how Rob led the way, and Donnie followed, and it was particularly funny when Rob said:

"That was a dummies. I found the groove, about 10 bars back..."

Now, Im by no means musiclally trained and my knowledge of music is pretty limited. Most of what I know is from listening to Rob Hidden Content so I get that a 'dummies' is some type of fake groove, but Im not quite sure what it means technically - if it indeed it does mean anything technically?

Anyways, its something subtle which not many people pick up on, but Donnie Lyle has been an integral part of R. Kelly music for me ever since he shouted him out on 'Step In the Name of Love Remix'.

1 question I do have is about the likes of Greg Landfair and Patrick Hayes. Notably they played Guitars on 'Taxi Cab' (Greg) and 'Sex Weed' (Patrick) along with Donnie, but I was just wondering why is it necessary to have more than 1 guitarist on certain joints?
"You have reached R. Kelly, unfortunately Im asleep..." Hidden Content

yeah you get to hear donnie a lil bit on the live dvd extras..and on the ''hands across the world'' he seems to be their every step of the way... @ Maxxx i think about that alot. and even how Sam Cooke and his guitarist Cliff White were close, and Marvin and Gordon Banks....the realtionships seem comparable.

Yea, I love their relationship too. I just wish we saw more of it in live performances.

From mere guitarist to Chocolate Factory Musical Director. Nuff said.

I do hope though that this relationship doesn't go the way of the Daniels' for whatever reason... Especially, considering that Rob seems to have more 'transactions' than friends Hidden Content but that's just unnecessary negativity from me Hidden Content
