Default When Did You Become a Fan?

I had heard the Ignition remix in '03, obviously, because we all had heard it.

I'd heard I Believe I Can Fly when it came out, and I remember singing along to that in a car with my Nana (R.I.P.) driving me and a bunch of my elementary school friends back from some birthday party.

I very much remember If I Could Turn Back the Hands of Time (to this day, my favorite Kells song), because it was featured on the Now 3 compilation album (at least, the radio edit was).

But the moment I truly became a fan of R. Kelly was in my parents house in 2007 when I was 19 years old and the I'm a Flirt remix single came out. It was around April of that year that I'd just heard it on the radio and I had to have it on my iPod. I was driving around town and it was a beautiful day. I rolled the windows down and turned up the volume, and just enjoyed the shit out of that summer jam. I still think it's one of the most carefree, fun-loving summer songs of all time. It's got a great TIP verse, and probably Pain's best guest verse of all time (I mean, name a better one... ?).

So... yeah. The "I'm a Flirt" Remix from spring '07. That was the moment I became an R. Kelly fan. And the Double Up album solidified that fandom.

And then I was like, holy shit, this dude has been making hit albums and quality records for a long-ass time! And the rest is history. I will forever be a fan of Rob's, and it all started in the spring of 2007.

    Peace. - K.

I was a kid when Space Jam came out and I remember I used to always rewind the VHS tape to listen to I Believe I Can Fly on the end credits. That is the first song I ever remember liking, from any artist. The R. album was also the first album I ever owned but after that I don't remember being a fan again until the Ignition remix. TP.3 is the first time I remember buying one of his albums and listening on repeat non stop, but it was probably Double Up that made him my Hidden Content artist.

very good question for me was when he did the remix for Hi five's she's playing hard to get.

    i liked slow dance
and she's got that vibe, dedidcated, however i was take or leave with him and public annoucment

but 12 play changed things as I wore out your body's callin
and the extended how it feels remix to bump and grind
and then i was hooked on his work with aaliyah, changing faces and work with the winans, but then in 1995
sealed the deal working with Michael Jackson, bringing back the Isley Brothers working with Quincy jones
and to me his self title album forever sealed the deal.

trade in my life, religous love, thank god its friday, downlow colab and the film, etc,, you remind me of,

the rest as they say is history.

When Vibe world premiered on B.E.T. Video Soul. I didn't like it at first til my sister started singing it around the house and it stuck in my mind. Ever since then he has been my number one artist.
