Default Recession in the R&B Scene & R.Kelly

The other day I was listening to some songs Kellz wrote for other R&B artists. At a certain point during one of the song, it sprang to mind that he hasn't done that recently as much as he did before. And I realized yet again there's been kind of severe recession in the R&B scene and he was hit by that. The music industry as a whole is going through recession, but I think the R&B genre is suffering more than some others like country. As a result, only very few R&B artists like him can stay laid-back. It's not that many R&B artists can make money off touring, let alone doing it in arenas or stadiums.

In a nutshell, I strongly feel R.Kelly needs healthy R&B scene as much as it needs him. What do you think? Have you felt the same before?

its a very good point you make there helena,

im sure that the zodiac album thats coming next will definatly put him back at the top, and with a bit of luck all of these new "hot" dudes that are out there will turn to kells for his production.

i just hope the album is "written, produced and arranged" only by R. Kelly. and noone else!

I was thinking about this while listening to Whitney's "I Look To You" and I agree wholeheartedly. It's like no one out now is worth R.'s time. Not to sound harsh. But it's not like the 90's or early 00's. Where R. was working with many great artists.

well, there are still enough GREAT artists, that Robert has worked with recently.

    Michael of course.
He worked on a tune for Mary J. Blige (which didn't make the cut)
He worked on a remix for Mariah Carey which will be out soon, I hope.
a song for Celine Dion which we haven't heard yet.

the thing is...he has stopped working with great artists ONLY. nowadays he's working with EVERYBODY (whick sucks IMO). and most of them are garbage rappers.

Alot of people have said it, but these days its no big deal to work with R. Kelly...only certain people realise the magnitude of such an event, but many dont appreciate it a dime.

Take Rock City for example...now this mite not be fair, cuz I really only know the basics about them and dont check for them...but lets keep it real, in the grand scheme of music they are totally insignificant...However, not only did they get a feature (did well on their verse congrats for that) for the first time EVER someone apart from R. Kelly started off a R. Kelly album!!??

It mite just be 1 line:

    "Right about now..."

But for some reason it just didn't sit well with me...Rob could have easily said that line himself, but no...these young dudes got to say the 'starters orders'...

That's just one example of many really...I can appreciate the fact that Rob is willing to work with anybody, and he doesn't discriminate...that shows a humble side of his personality...

but strictly on a musical hierarchy tip...

certain dudes need to sit the hell down!

The worst singer/rapper Ive probably ever heard have a joint with Rob...

    Da-ni...

what a mess that dude was!

(In saying all of that I was hating on OJ Da Juiceman before but now I like him...guess I can be somewhat of a hypocrit from time-to-time. Hidden Content )

Rock City writes for lots of people, they're really talented. I really don't mind Kells working with others even the new cats coming but that doesn't mean the songs have to come up on his album. Music Industry is shit right now there aren't lots of great artists out here now specially rappers. I'd welcome a collabo album from him and Snoop, that would be really hot

This untitled album was not his fortay, other people worked on it for him and boy it cost him dearly for working with these unknowns. Now as far as writing songs for people he has never lost his touch; let's all pray he works on his next album all by himself and bring back that raunchy bedroom sex that were waiting to here him sing.
