    Default R.'s Live PErformances???

is it just me or does it seema as if R. never does live performances of his songs???

i'm hoping that maybe he's going to do a live performance of "same girl" with usher because without it i doubt that it will be very high on the charts.

i used to think it was becauase of the his legal problems but i cant remember him doing anything before then either. There was the VMA awards but he didnt sing he was lip-synching.

i'm not saying there asnt been any but compared to other artists its minimal.

    does anyone know whyHidden Content

I'm a baby fan compared to many of y'all, so can't trace the live history back to the old, old days. We couldn't watch all of his live performances like US folks, but just youtube. If not deleted, there are um...Honey Love&Slow Dance at the Apollo, When A Woman's Fed Up at Soul Train Awards, uh....etc. Am I understand what you sayin right? cuz I guess you already watched them.

I partly got your point cuz it seems to me that he's never gotten media love fully and therefore never gotten on the live stage enough that is broadcast widely.

Same Girl is #1 on the R&B charts already... If it doesn't reach #1 on the pop charts (white charts) then that's okay too... Kellz just released a live dvd... what are you talking about???

    Live performances I can recall:

    - 2003 Billboard Awards (Step in the Name of Love)
    - 2003 Vibe Awards ( Step in the Name of Love)
    - 1998 Grammy's (I Believe I Can Fly)
    - 1999 Soul Train Awards (When A Woman's Fed Up)
    - BET 25TH Anniversary (Medley...probably one of his best performances ever)
    - 2000 or 01 Lady of Soul Awards (I Wish)
    - 2006 Billboard Awards (Slow Wind & Let Your Light Shine... I do like to see R. with on the Guitar)

Those are some I think of off the top of my head, the years maybe of but I'm sure some can correct me.

like i said i didnt say he hasn't done any performances...its just that when he releases an album theres barely any live performances compared to other artists, i know that R. isnt as popular as other artists like beyonce who have lots of performances...but it would be nice if R. did more of them so fans and non-fans could see him...

the live DVD doesnt count cause i meant performances on TV

Again what are you talking about??? R Kelly is more popular than most artists.

Beyonce needs to perform more because she is not as well established as R Kelly... I won't argue about who is more famous either, because...

After seventeen years in the business you don't need to go to the opening of an envelope like Queen Bee does... Beyonce is everywhere all the time. They call it over exposure. Double Up sold more copies than B-Day in the first week even with all the exposure...

I think the point soulful.stringz is trying to make is that we have not see Kells perform any Double Up songs live to promote his album. No 106th &Park, no BET Awards, TRL, etc. Lots of good internet promo with youtube, myspace, and text messages but not much live stuff.

Kells did the club promo in Atlanta and in Vegas(industry insiders only). Only a private party at his crib in Chicago for industry and some friends and fans.

I think Jimmy Kimmell would have let Kells perform, but I can't see Kells performing on Good Morning America, The Today Show, etc like Beyonce, Alicia Keys have when they dropped an new cd.

There are some in Chicago who are upset that Kells broke his tradition of showing love to his fans from the 'hood' by meeting and autographing CD's at Georges Music Room on Chicago west side.

But I heard that the Daniels had a death in the family and Kells was filming Same Girl at the time so he couldn't do it.

His sales numbers are good. Might have been better with a few live performances.

I thought about that when I was reading your first post....That's how I felt last year when I was youtubing a lot. Of course, R.Kelly-related stuff was my priority. But I found out that Beyonce and Alicia Keys sections have way, way more TV show live and interview clips than Kellz. He is a helluva performer and he got nothing less in performing skills and stage manner, but that's how things have been. I think you know why.

The shows that mista said seem to have a wider range of viewers. He's crossed over definitely, but even after I Believe I Can Fly came out, he ain't been welcomed to be a quest as often and much as the two ladies who have even more nationwide(the US)&worldwide fan base and appeal. When you look at members here, he's got already worldwide fan base and appeal, too. But, I don't think it surpasses that of each lady...So, I guess no need to say about pre-I Believe I Can Fly era? Even though he got #1 song Bump 'N Grind? Even before legal problems hit, his management ain't doing a good job to put him on TV shows, I believe.

Kells fear of flying hampers his promotion bid on each of his albums....for example I remember Jay Z visiting & performing in 6 cities within 24 hours to promote his....but I do agree with you Soulful, there is nothing stopping Kells from recording Live from Chicago or something along those lines...but I suppose it goes on demand from the TV stations, the last programme I remember in the UK for example requesting a Live performance from R. was Top Of The Pops....so you are going back a good 3 - 4 years....they seem to be happy with the videos which is a shame cus I do really enjoy his Live performances....also nowadays its the norm to give an interview along with a live track....and I dont feel Kells is truly comfortable with live interviews

Beyonce has an album out which she wants to sell...she wants to sell alot...thats why she sis doing so many performances so people dont forget about her in a hurry (even though its TOOOO much now...i cant turn a magazine without seeing her face)...just because R. is a more established artist it doesnt mean he shouldnt do more live performances; thats how you get more fans.

Even artists that are more popular than R. do more live performances than him...
