I think this is not the point here. We're talking about great lyrics and about using street language. You can't take street language as sign for the quality of a song or poem or whatever. If this would be the case Goethe wouldn't be known to anyone of us.

i agree with what 'r.kelly' said, but also agree with braidedgirl that corny isnt the right word. i can understand what both of u mean.

these arent the greatest lyrics he's written demonstrated on this album. the whole 'push' part on havin a baby is unnecessary and i think it kinda spoils the song, everyone knows wat giving birth involves, i dont think that needed to be on the song.

and jus at other times like 'r.kelly' mentioned in his post, the lyrics jus make me wanna cringe. i kno kells is bein creative and the songs are good, but sometimes the lyrics could be much better.

    idiot Yes it is...

That's exactly the point. If if sounds real than it is. Most brotha's in the hood won't respond to some corny shit, they'll dismiss it quick fast and in a hurry... Great lyrics are a state of mind or rather someones opinion not law.

Would anyone say that the lyrics to Old McDonald are great, they're ridiculous??? But the song is a hit cause little kids in pre-school still sing it after all these years.

I actually like the part on havin a baby when he says "push." Im not tryin to make anybody mad, just statin my opinion. Yeah everybody knows what givin birth is, but I just like how he sings and says "Im right here, hold my hand", etc. All guys should be there when there womans givin birth. thats just what I think about that part and the picture hes tryin to put in our heads.......Just My Opinion!!!!

but I do agree that some of his metaphors can go a lil far, but I still love listening to his music. We all still waiting for dat true, soul, R&B album to come out and I know its gonna blow us away!!!

Ya, Kellz had me laughing a few times on Double Up but that's what the man does. Some of the metaphors are very interesting and ones I've never heard of 'em. I've had people listen to the album and so far, everyone's liked the songs I played. Sure, it's not R&B R. Kelly and believe me, that's my favorite R. Kelly but this album is good and hey I don't mind some hip hop. He'll keep giving us music, we can't get enough of it.

I don't know what's next in his evolution but for those that have the BET DVD, you heard Kellz talk about how how he has 5 albums on the shelf, 2 Making Babies albums, 2 Mid Tempos, and I forgot the other. I was excited when I heard that and I'm still excited but damn Kellz, please let me enjoy Double Up for a while, then you got Trapped In The Closet 13-22 later in the summer. What's next???

I hope the first week numbers for Double Up are great. The next single has to be released soon. Make it happen, JIVE.

There's a difference between writing "real" lyrics and writing "good" lyrics. We were referring to the quality and you can't take street language as a synonym for quality, that's a fact.
