Dang, if only he could do those tributes on records or dvds, so more people can get to see soulful R.Kelly showing love to his idols! Something's not right here. The BMI awards show that maxxx mentioned wasn't even open to the public. It was a very exclusive event within music industry circles. There he shared the stage with Al Green. Lookin at the pic where they singin together, I thought "He should get more exposure of this type of gigs. Just with mic glowing on the stage. Plus he's exchanging musical vibe with a legend." Didn't he do tribute for Charlie Wilson as well? I'm not sure about my memory...

While looking for some pics on the BMI awards, I found this clip. He received producer's award in it.

I would really love to hear this song, too. It's very beautiful, and I know R. Kelly must have sounded fantastic. I wonder if her will ever consider doing a Cd of cover hits?

I wish he would do more covers like Sadie. This is where R. separates himself from the competition. It would be great to see his cover of "A Song for You".

yeah at one of the BMI events he was doing background vocals with the Gap band. yep you are right. also a cat that works at Vibe says that around what was it 2000 or 2001 that R was at a Piano during a Musical Expo and that he was performing Jazz standards on the Piano and that folks didn't know he played like that or did that. and of course back in 94 i remember reading about him performing in a lounge or something at a piano and doing songs. he every now and then drops hints of things that showcase his other depths, but he does hold back more often than I'd like. I would love to hear him un-cut on things.

Thanks a lot for this link, helena. Hidden Content

I too wish he got more exposure of his soulful, "serious songwriter" side. With the kind of exposure he's getting now, people don't get to see what makes him different from the rest.

Thanks for confirming that. Folks said they didn't know that? Yea, it's possible. And they musta been surprised in a good way. As much as he's got so much, we fans hope to see more of his all-round musician side. I don't think we hope too much.

@2nd R&Trumpetmaster-NothingHidden Content I just happend to see the clip. Makes me watch him performing there.
