Thanks as always hack. I lost hope for the song it's not doing what it supposed to be doing. And i really don't get that. Can someone please explain how the hell can "Sorry, blame it on me" by Akon can jump right into the top 100 at #7 and why it's causing Kells so much trouble to do that. I'm really confused about this and i just don't understand it. "Same Girl" is a very radio friendly song even more than "I'm a flirt" but the song isn't getting much attention otherwise it would do way better on the charts

    Rythmic Radio: #22 1548 spins +141
    Urban Radio #1 4326 spins +242
    AC Urban Radio #24 291 spins +56

only a few top 40/pop stations with it in rotation..overall gain of 439 spins thats Great..hopefully it translate to a big jump on the hot 100 cuz last week the song went up 370 spins and didnt move....over all spins with a few pop stations are over 6200 total spins!!!

Akon jumped into the Hot 100 at #7 based mostly on digital sales. Certain artists (mostly fairly mainstream pop artists) seem to be very popular in terms of digital downloads. Unfortunately the Hot 100 chart policy is weighted heavily towards digital downloads presently, so that is Akon's success.

The chart used to be heavily weighted to radio airplay and because Urban was the most dominant form of music at the time, it used to dominate the Hot 100. They changed the policy to get a better representation at the top of the charts as well as recognising paid downloads. Under old chart rules 'Same Girl' would definitely be in the top 10 if not the top 5 of the Hot 100 right now.

So basically they change the rules just to fuck over Urban music.

Well, either that or because they need to go with the times and count the digital songs that are sold nowadays. Whichever sounds more reasonable to you.

Me personally, I never liked the "radio airplay" thing. For me, if an artist creates a piece of music, they sell it and the sold amount determines the charts. Call me old-fashioned, but that's how it's supposed to be for me.
