The Love Letter album is #182 on the Top Current Albums chart (Not Billboard charts affiliated). It's up 3 spots from last week.

I think eventually we'll be able to say "we done went platinum maaaannnneee"!!!!!! LL is a timeless album, and that's why it's holding so fucking well.

I hear (or read) some ppl say LL hasnt sold well because of the scandal. but that isnt the case because Chocolate Factory went 4x platinum while the trial was still going & Double Up sold as well. Untitled & Love Letter not selling well I guess is due to lack of promo. so hopefully the next albums marketing & advertising will be better managed under RCA. regardless, it just doesnt seem right Kelly's records selling less than a million so hopefully that changes next go round.

I never thought the trial was the reason or the economy...most ppl who are saying that didn't buy his records after TP2...you have to remember he lost a lot of his fan base and his currently gaining them back..

It's all relative. You have to judge Kelly with the rest of the industry. He's selling 600K+ on album that's had 2 official releases. If he reaches platinum this year, he'll be one of a handful and I literally mean handful of artists. The end of year charts is always a better indication of how well his album's done. I expect it to be one of the top 20 maybe top 10 selling R&B albums of the year. Going gold is like going 2x platinum 10 years ago and probably 5x platinum 20 years ago. I don't think you'll ever see an album go Diamond ever again.

Exactly! I think Confessions was the last diamond album and that was like 7 yrs ago...ppl aren't selling because of illegal downloading imo...look at Beyonce...her album is considered a flop and she's at like 630k i believe, it'll go platinum but she's usually plat by the end of the month...Sales aren't the same anymore..that's why its good to have a strong fan base...

Whoever said that is misinformed because Chocolate Factory sold well over 3 million copies in the U.S. alone and Happy People/U Saved Me is certified 3x Platinum by the RIAA. TP.3 and Double Up sold over a million respectively. By the way, I don't think it has anything to do with the lack of promo because Kellz never the type to do promo. He always sold based off his name alone.

Now Untitled flopped because of the reception "Hairbraider" and "Skin" received. People weren't feeling those singles so the 12 Play: 4th Quarter project was leaked/shelved. A year later he comes back with the same tired Urban sound that we know all the imitators are using. He also started collaborating with a few stale producers. Now add that with the BET interview he did right after the trial was over. I think that hurt both his image and appeal.

The Love Letter album is doing very well. It's still on the Top Current Album charts after 8 months and selling well in the Urban markets without a successful single. Mind you Untitled dropped off the Billboard 200 albums chart after 17 weeks. Love Letter is still going strong so this is a step in the right direction.
