Default Lack of love for 12play/R.Kelly

So I've been doing some thinking as I read on the site and become more involved and connected to you guys. We have such high praise for CF/USM/HP/TP2......like legit love. We all did love the bald R. Kelly behind the ray bans once too !

Does anyone here feel some love maybe lost for 12 play and R. Kelly? We all know the jams off each album.

Does anyone here think maybe that as entire albums the other ones are stronger as whole and we only recognize 12p/R.Kelly by the songs rather than the work in its entirety ?

.......Just some food for thought !

I don't think there's a lack of love for those albums at all. We all know how major those joints are. It almost goes without saying. I can't speak for others, but in my case, I was very young when those albums came out. I wasn't an R.Kelly fan yet. He started becoming a major name in my life in the TP-2.com days and after that it was history. I listened to 12 Play/R.Kelly/R after the fact. That's just me though. But I can assure you no one on this board denies the powerfulness of those albums.

Rey - I feel you. I just constantly see...."we'll never see another CF/USM" or "Man wish we could get another tp2".......Not many people say "oh wish we could get him to do another 12 play/r. kelly"......

Just tryin to get the board more active! I really liked Redemptions "confessions of a r. kelly fan"......so i figure why not have people here say why they may prefer those albums over the others.

KRX - ahaha dude, i swear you are my musical twin, no many folk here rep 12 play to purp haze to omarion and then put raymond on !

Dying to hear what others say !

12 Play would probably be in my bottom 3 R. albums and I'm not really sure why because I like every song on it apart from Back to the Hood of Things... Maybe it's just because it's a short album?

I must said "man, I wish we could get another R. Kelly..." before.

I love those two albums; R. Kelly was the album that established Rob as a mainstay in my life.

    R. Kelly epitomises everything I dig about dude's music;
    - fun (hump bounce, TGIF...)
    - love (religious love, baby baby baby baby..., I can't sleep...)
    - soul (Not Gonna Hold On, Trade In My Life [wow], heaven if you hear me [a skit but wow])
    - sex; I think he was at his most creative here with sexual songs (U remind me, TEMPO SLOW!!!!!!! whoa)

12Play was my shit (pardon my frenchHidden Content )... well except for the songs where he tried to rap....

I love every R. Kelly album man (well, except for the songs I mentioned earlier in my confessionHidden Content )

Nah! There's no lack of love for those albums! Last night when I posted Be With You on here, I thought about For You off 12-Play and I listen to it. Man, that song is breath taking. 12-Play album is and always will be that summer album somewhat a seasonal anthem! But you can listen to it anytime! The summer and 12-Play is one hot combination. The summer it came out, you could almost hear it everywhere: bumpin from a car, radio, girls talking about the going to the concert, MTV, BET, Vh1, and even Comic View. The comedians loved Bump and Grind and Sex Me! Also, the remixes was off the hook: Bump and Grind, Sex Me, and Your Body Callin with Aaliyah was just straight heaters. We got some good music that year from R.Kelly and him producing for Changing Faces and The Isley Bros. He had that gotta have/ must have music! And the R.Kelly album is the prototype album! Down Low was and still is the greatest concept in music; that and Half On A Baby! I was hoping that he would keep that style, the bold head and shades, the spreading his arms as if he had wings, and the fact that he was a one man show. Only called in to produce or be featured on a hook on a hip hop joint like: Biggie, Nas, and Jigga or others. But I know you can't keep a butterfly underneath a glass jar. But both albums are worth buying and worth listening to. R.Kelly is the World's Greatest!Hidden Content

How could I forget the 'Down Low' saga and the 12 Play remixes?

The man has given so much to music that sometimes I feel he has so much classic material he can afford to make 5 more sub-par albums and still be regarded as one of the greatest R&B musicians to have graced this planet... His sub-par stuff is on the same level, if not a notch higher than the best stuff out these days anyway.

Therefore, R. Kelly IS the greatest R&B musician alive!

Maybe not for the entire 12 Play album, but some of the individual tracks and the era get a lot of love here and elsewhere, I think. I know some people think tracks like I Like The Crotch On You, Back to the Hood of Things, Freak That Body are weak or just fillers for a classic album. Too simple even for the "I got a one-track mind" theme?
But I gotta point out that he got some REMIXes many people remember and adore to this day off the album. When your remixes are talked about like that, you know it's a major love right there.

@perch: If you felt it's been pretty quiet about the album here, it's approving quietnessHidden Content

i'm enjoyng all the feedback !!

@helena well thats what I mean.....do we feel the others have no filler?

@dizle lol ya the remix's r so tight !!! that man did the true definition of a remix....A RE-MIX of the song.....not the same song with a guest hook.....that is what i think separates him

"Seems like you're ready" is what got me hooked......still get goosebumps hearing that song like i did when i was like 11.....going on 25 now
