Ok this reminds of the HipHop 101...when releasing a cd pick a fight with someone like Fat Joe did with 50 Cents or like Ja Rule did with 50 Cents...You always pick on the top to get your name out there and your music heard. But this is gutter...now it is RNB 101..lol

And I have a confession I really dont' do any RNB cats...I usually just like one artist...So R. is fav RNB singer and Fantasia is my fav RNB female singer... I have no ill feeling toward Joe but he was never on my radar. My friends like him but he never really registered in my mind as a threat to anyone.

Let alone R. cause he R. had the power he would say dont' sign any RNB male artists. That is power. And something strikes me as odd that record label he is signed to is the same one Tank is sign to I think.

R.Kelly never says anything about people but he is always on people's mind he is the King...He rarely speaks..sometimes I wish he would defend himself but in the case this will go away next week until he releases his cd then he will go on a promotional tour and talk about. it So I hope R.Kelly don't even respond cause he is not on his level....

I wish Joe the best everybody got to eat but try not get gutter with it. His work should speak for it self. R.Kelly's does...

The next thing you know Avant, Ginuwine and Tank will be blaming Kells for them not getting acknowledged and not getting any shine.

then Justin Timberlake will blame R.kelly for tugging on Janet Jackson's bra and then it snapped and they want him to pay the fine. Usher will blame R.kelly for his album not selling right now and so on and on. just take a number and Blame R.

I am a big fan of Joe and have all of his cds but he is really reaching. And this attempt to use Kells to get publicity for his new project is distressing to me, especially when R Kelly gave you two songs for your last cd which wasn't that good on its own. When Joe had hits they got played on the radio and his videos got played on BET and even remember seeing him on MTV. They played both until the song died down just like everybody else. Jive is about making money and if his songs were hot and making money I doubt seriously that Kells would have been able to get a hot song off the radio. A more believable scenario would be if Jive didn't release Joe's songs or cds on Kells say so. But that probably didn't happen since Joe didn't even find out about the supposed sabbotage until six months after leaving Jive. And who did he find this out from! Funny Kells might be leaving Jive and now former label mate is getting info that Kells sabotaged him...PLEASE. I would think that Joe would have had his own A&R.

I lived in the Columbus/Lagrange, GA area for six years when Joe had his best cds (and even though he is from that area his songs just got regular play while they were hot. I can't remember any big hometown push on the radio. I don’t even think many people knew he was from Columbus. I only found out because I worked with his niece for a few years. I think there are probably more Kells fans than Joe. I just can't remember hearing people talk about him or anticipating his next album even in his home town.

Joe needs to face the fact that whenever he dropped a cd R Kelly had either already released or would be releasing something better. By the time Joe even got to Jive, Kells already had 12Play and R Kelly, “I Believe I Can Fly “ and “Gotham City”. By the time he dropped his best seller My Name is Joe (I believe it went 3X Plat.), Kells had already had “R” and if I remember correctly Kells was everywhere and working with everybody. Had the Sparkle thing going on and besides his own album hits had a #1 duet with Celine Dion. And I don’t recall that any of Joe’s next albums went beyond gold status . My personal favorite, All that I Am only went platinum. They only song I can even think that Kells may have been concerned about would be Stutter. But knowing how well Kells was doing at the time I personally can’t imagine that he was so concerned, that he had to “sabotage” Joe’s career. Kells strikes me as the type of person who would just go into the studio and shut you down with another hit or even remix your ish and make it better for you. Sabotage…and Jive stopping a rising hit maker to please another. Anything is possible but seems doubtful because I think Joe got the promotion that an artist of his stature would have got from Jive.

    Really disappointed in Joe!

i rememeber reading in vibe years ago before kells was arrested, and keels was salgging joe and sisqo and a couple of other dudes off, and when joe released the tracks that had been leaked of loveland, i knew there was trouble between them, because kells is so creative he normally makes new (unleaked) material for everyone else!
I remember that article, he actually said "Joe had a beautiful voice, but I think he needs a producer who is going to give him who he is , not who I am." VIBE May 2002

I agree with everything that has already been said...

I like Joe's music but c'mon man why stoop that low? He must be very very bitter at Jive to say something like that. If R. Kelly told Jive to stop promoting Joe because he was "too hot" I'm pretty sure they wouldn't listen because at the end of the day Jive is only interested in padding their own pockets. Realistically R. Kelly doesn't wield that kind of power.

The fact is Joe was a money maker for Jive from 1997-2000 with All That I Am going platinum and My Name Is Joe was 3x platinum but where Joe fell over was Better Days in 2001. You could tell Jive rush released that album to piggyback off the mainstream popularity he had got with Stutter remix, I Wanna Know and Thank God I Found You but that album never caught on despite Jive putting money onto it. They gave him some push with And Then but when his G-Unit featured single didn't get any mainstream love in a year where 50 Cent dominated that really spelled the beginning of the end for Joe. His last album was pretty good I thought but it was inevitable that he was going to get pushed into that adult contemporary box in which he now finds himself. That is not R. Kelly's faultHidden Content

He is dickhead he should appreciate the fact Kells gave him a song that could've been a hit but for his lack of interest it wasn't. You gotta be a idiot to think that Kells can have that pull by to just call a radio station and tell them not to play another dudes record.
