Who says Rob is not a vocalist? I've never heard this before. I just usually hear people bring up negative things about his personal life as for the reason why they don't think he's a credible artist.

As sad as it is to say, I don't think he will be truly appreciated until after his death. Don't get me wrong, I wish death on no man or woman. I'm just saying that is likely at that time people will actually review his body of work objectively.

Also, we will likely hear a lot of projects like the "Musical Virus" or "Katrina" albums at that time. The only other way I can see us hearing these types of albums is if or when he has past his hitmaking prime and becomes something like a Stevie. Where the label lets him do want he wants because he has a built in audience and their expectations have been lowered, but right now he and Timberlake are probably Jive's franchise players.

My appologies, I didnt mean it!!!!

I agree "soulful strings" that He could Release better singles that he would be considered more of a credible artist!!! I was just saying that if he was to release singles like looking for love, you, Forever, forever more, I'll never leave, etc. that people would recognized more. IM SORRY, I NEED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC!!!!
Hey, you didn't have to apologizeHidden Content I know you didn't have any intentions to offend some people. She was from another racial group, so it's just natural she needed help from you to understand cultural elements of what he sings about. You know, human beings share a lot of basic emotions and feelings and all of us can understand without any guidance. But when you get into different culture and try to grasp things, there are times you need help. You helped her that way and you did a good job!

Maxxx, your post was informative. Big thanks. The last paragraph basically sums it up all about his status as a commercial artist. And R Dot, you have a point.

my experience with "new" fans has been this:

    1. they hear im'a flirt/playaz only/snake/fiesta etc etc.
    2. they are interested and curious.
    3. they buy the album and are like: WHOA
    4. kellz continues to grow his fan base and his credibility as a hit maker and respected industry staple.

in an industry such as the MUSIC industry, getting to the top and staying there is NOT pretty. and the way r.kelly is managing it is a GREAT example IMO.

who else can go through all that he has gone through and still get the respect and credit that artists, fans and the media give him (with the obvious hater here and there that doesnt mean much and EVERY artist has)?

Yeah, he's staying on the top. It ain't easy it ain't easy.....IMO, NEW fans need to feel strong enough to search for his material and deeply listen to all of 'em. Not just what the label and media try to present him with. In other words, not just hot singles. Well, if they reach to the point, they already step into the door to a room for hardcore fans.

I agree. That's what I've been thinking myself. The greatest stuff might not be released until he's either dead or mature enough to let all commercial album efforts go and walk the Happy People/U Saved Me road. No big promotion, no huge singles, no rap, no obscenity, just pure music.

I agree with both of you. Don't get me wrong, I love all of Kellz songs. But I REALLY want some albums with nothing but real R&B. I don't want constant cussing (Kells is generally pretty good at using it only when it adds meaning, but he slips at times); I don't want the bitch and hoes referrences; I don't want any commercialized songs. I want an album with nothing but slow jams and real music. Can you imagine how unbelievable that would be? I get excited just thinking about it.
