Default The ignorance of Kellz's music!!!

I listen to radio every now & then and I hear some of da $hit that are hits on da radio......I hear r.kelly's music and hear so much stuff that would be a hit if he was to release it as a single. Everybody on this thread knows r.kelly's music and I think if all people knew his music and understood how DEEP and MEANINGFUL his MUSIC IS, that MOST PEOPLE would love kellz too.....I GOT DIS WHITE GIRL LOVING R.KELLY NOW. She sat down & listened to some songs with me and NOW she just cant GET ENOUGH OF KELLZ......lol. Of course I had to break some stuff down to her, but now she understands. I LOVE doin THAT. my question is......Do yall think if r.kelly's music got more exposure and more people took a chance to understand his music THAT THEY would know HOW WE FEEL WHEN HE HEAR HIS MUSIC???????????

Exactly. But with singles like Snake, Playa's Only, Burn It Up, I'm A Flirt and the like it is not surprising that he is not too much appreciated by or let's say accessible to a broader range of music listeners. I would even go as far as to say that it would be better to sacrifice some good chart positions in favor of a good reputation. He should release singles such as The Heart Of A Woman, If I Could Make The World Dance, and so on.

"Baby Doll" no disrespect intended!!! I appologize!!! I was just saying that she wasnt black. I know most of r.kelly's fans are black (atleast I think). Ive broken down songs to blacks too. I just feel that some people just dont understand the depth of his songs UNTIL THEY REALLY LISTEN TO IT whether they're black, white, mexican, asian, etc. Im sorry if I offended ANYONE in this thread. My appologies, I didnt mean it!!!!

I agree "soulful strings" that He could Release better singles that he would be considered more of a credible artist!!! I was just saying that if he was to release singles like looking for love, you, Forever, forever more, I'll never leave, etc. that people would recognized more. IM SORRY, I NEED TO BE MORE SPECIFIC!!!!

ok then, thats cool, i kno u didnt mean to offend, and i agree most of r.kelly's fans are black.

but emotion is emotion no matter what your race, subjects such as love, hate, struggle, death, etc etc are universal and can be understood the world over.

BUT i do kno wat u meant, lol.

also, i think kells is a credible enough artist as it is, i mean he is certainly the most credible modern r&b artist we have right now, but i understand the point & agree, different singles, such as some album tracks many people may not have heard, would mean more people would know kells music on a much wider range, and would appreciate his genuine talent much more.

john legend, alicia keys or even usher all release singles that show off their vocals, but r. kelly doesn't. if he released singles that showed off his vocals he would be more credible than he is now. people say that r. kelly isnt a vocalist after hearing songs like "players only"

Good topic and where do i start or end for that matter on it?

I believe I can fly, You are not Alone,Bump and Grind, back and forth, Downlow(nobody has to know),I wish, Your Body's callin, Step in the Name of Love, I'm your angel,Igniation, are all known Hits of his.

He has the most Open minded Audience of any Artist that I know of that has been a Big Time Artist IMO. I mean to go from a I Believe I can Fly a Decade ago to a "Trapped in the closet" have people interested speaks volumes about Him and the acceptance of his creativity.

the Knocks against him stem more from him personally and his on going case. then also He represents a different era and time for some folks. I mean He is the last of the New Jack Swing Era. but saying New Jack swing to a Kid 15 and under today is like saying Disco a whole World and Era Ago.

He is Guilty as a Artist of following a formula in order of staying cool. truth is the Hybrid of His R&B,Pop and Rap Fusion was always Bought and Believed. He never had to go get any Rappers to Guest on in order to stay Hot and Happening in the Market place, because the Kellz Heads from the 90's dug Him with Biggie, Dug Him with Nas,Dug Him with Keith Murray, Dug Him with Jay Z,etc... it was natural. now it seems more often than not forced. don't get me wrong Him and Snoop work well together but then again they are from the same bag and time so again it comes across real. but when you have him with some other folks it seems forced and there are potential fans that see or hear him working with a T-pain and T.I. and think this Guy is just doing what Usher and Justin Timberlake does.

then you got R&B Heads who love the "Touched a Dream" Loveland style Kellz Stepping Stuff and also dig the Sexual Freaky Shit and want that mix. but He has elected to play Politics this time around as he did last time around on TP3 with Heavy colabs and a Led off Single where he worked with Scott Storch and The Game. Storch's Groove and Game's verse were both Re-cycled. so it asks the Question what does Kellz want and what is the Ultimate trade off?? Kellz is Bored by what is going on today. if you play close attention to him Musically just from the stand-point of what He incorperates into His own thing then you can tell He is just playing ball to what Radio and other outlets are pushing. Shit He might have a Jazz, classical or a fusion album He works on,but just puts out what Jive says will Sell. a Cat that works and Breaths Music like Him plays the Dual Role alot and yes it can be frustrating when you know He is much more capable of doing certain things than what you might always get. but take the Musical Virus Project: if this was another Era and time we would see that. but these Excutives of today say if we don't hear no Hit then we ain't gonna push a Project like that. that particular Project told me of how bored he is of the stuff he has to do. Loveland showed what he can do when folks are doubting him as well. on hat tour we got Bits and Pieces of Him,but it wasn't often you got where he truly was unless you heard certain parts or ways he approached the Music. IMO I think He wants to seperate Himself from alot of what is going on Musically now,but in the big picture will His Lifestyle and Pockets allow that to Happen? 'Trapped in the Closet" and that whole Opera vibe is what He seems to be truly Himself at along with the Stepping tracks. yeah he can do the club and colab thing, but they are like so Routine now that you just become Numb to it after a while. that is just my take on this matter.

Generally fans will either dig his Catelog and Respect His Songwriting or think he is a Weird Cat and seemed to be catchy for quite a while. He will always wear the "I believe I can Fly" Tag around His Neck which ain't bad. because a Song or so is timeless. but what we dig about him and Accept ain't always the way the average Joe or Mary feels and hears things.

One last thing: he has the label of Being a Hit-Maker which for some folks is a Great thing and for others Sounds too Trendy at times. that is Probably the biggest tag on him which can Be a Good thing or a bad thing or Limited depending on who you ask and that preception also dictates how some folks look at a Artist as well.
