Default he owns the break up album and songs title IMO

i mean the self title album back in 95 was something else, then you got Love letter and now Write me back and you know the story line and what is going on. i mean if you have ever been through a painful break up or dealing with relationship issues this Brother is doing Dr Phil and Dr Drew times 2. R. Kelly is writing true life storys on these projects and they are real. that kind of honesty is so rare nowadays. those strings and harmonys are real pain and real direct reaction.

very strong stuff he is talking about.

I Can't Sleep If I... is one of my favorite break up songs of all time. Now you can add Clipped Wings to that list.

This thread gives me something new to think about. I mean, I've never looked at his music that way before.
Personally I would avoid break-up songs if I go through some relationship issues.
I believe sometimes pain heals pain, tho, ironically, which turns into a strong bond between two strangers.
So, someone can be really feeling LL & WMB like that.

Agreed. I Can't Sleep If I is a helluva break-up song, no doubt.
"Just the thought of you being gone, baby, keeps me up all night long
Ooooh Oh Lord, hear my prayers/Please help me out of the situation I'm in/I can't go on/This is my song"
----sung in that strong yet trembling tone.
These words are oh-so-common for a song about heartbreak, but listen to the way he delivers them.
Plus, the sound of throwing things around at the end, that is so real. All this "Baby please come back to me" and then bam!
Remember? He had to cover his ears when they were about to play the song at last year's Centric special.
That right there shows you how far keeping it real in your music can go, IMO.

He sings some songs with such passion that one would say they are really personal!

so true only thing he needs to sing more about IMO is the relationship stuff from a mans point of view, besides "real talk" and a couple of verses here and there i would like to see him pen some songs like that. How he and Dave Hollister used to do. Still hopeing to hear their collabo from back in the late 90's.
