Like the rest of you, I'm totally anticipating Love Letter and Zodiac, but I think this album needs some more props. In light of Kells' past couple years with the court case, his divorce, and Untitled's lack of world-wide recognition, this album seems extremely important to his evolution.

Sure, it's a sort of greatest hits album, in the inspirational genre, but only five of the twelve songs are really greatest hits. We've heard I Believe before, but at least I haven't heard the full version until now. There is a lot of material on here the average Kells fan hasn't heard before. And then all the songs evoke a true relationship with spirit--the spirit of God, the spirit of prayer, and the spirit of victory.

I think Kells had a rebirth. We can't forget how big Sign of a Victory is. Do you realize how many people watched the World Cup? So with all the crap he has been through, I see Sign of a Victory as God delivering Kells to the top of the world stage, putting him back on his path of music that touches and changes people. Then his tour of parts of Africa, that song Peace says a prayer for all those countries suffering from violence, strife, and starvation. To me, Fireworks evokes the joy he felt watching the World Cup opening ceremony, and Victory is about the change he feels inside toward his role in the world.

So I think this is a major, Major step for Kells, coming back to himself, his spirituality, his African heritage, and moves toward what he needs to do in this world for others. The one song that could have made this is Heaven I Need a Hug, which really doesn't work, but this album has that same relevance as that song about what he's been through and where he's going. So I see a more mature Kells emerging from this album. When a Woman Loves is a mature song, and I expect Love Letter to be some instant, classic RnB.

But with all those changes, I still think Zodiac is going to blow our minds. He's an artist and a human being, so I suspect some real sexy tunes but with the qualities of Tip the Waiter, Exit, and Pregnant.

Anyway, I just think this album is great. I've listened to it non-stop since I got it, and I wanna hear more praise from you guys/gals.

    Really good post.

I'm like you, i'd never heard this version of I Believe before. The version I had on my Ipod is missing the last about 30 seconds, and has part of Obama's speech at the start.

Actually, on my version there are almost two minutes less of I believe. It's my birthday today. My housemates made me a beautiful dinner and cake, and poured copious quantities of booz down my throat. I am so thankful! I'm having an EPIC moment!

My copy is outside in the car but from what I can remember, the booklet is mainly pics of when he was in Africa, and has lyrics to all the songs on the album.

If I can sort my scanner out i'll scan the booklet later tonight/early tomorrow
