Default Enjoying Rob as we grow older

I am 25 and I first started getting into R. Kelly when I was around 10 years old. I had no clue about the lyrics or what they meant or what they stood for. My first R. Kelly album was "R. Kelly" not "12play". Fifteen years later I am beginning to appreciate Rob more than ever before (thanks a lot to this site). Believe it or not the two albums I got that I was disappointed in by Rob were HP/USM and Choch factory. I loved ignition remix of course, the choc fac song and the other hits. When it came to HP/USM all I listened to was "happy people" to me the album was whatever for the rest. I heard those and as a young boy asked myself.....where was the sex sex and.....oh ya sex. How did we go from "half on a baby" to "forever" and "spirit".

As time has passed almost 15 years (other than tp2) USM/HP and Choch Factory have gotton so much play out of my iTunes and CD player. I have begin to understand their deep lyrics. The love, emotion and true feelings that his voice are able to cast on us. Listening to "leap of faith" and "peace" if only the entire world would give these albums a spin and understand that he is just not the master of carnal knowledge.

For fans my age.....(now you all know I love 12play and R. Kelly).....but have any of our older 25-30+ fans began to enjoy robs music and understand it more and him as we get older ?

I'm 22 now so I can't really comment but I fully expect to be a fan for life.

Well R. Kelly's music has been apart of my life since I was in diapers. My mom & dad use to bump Born Into The 90s and 12 Play and I use to sing Summer Bunnies when I was like 3 lol I remember I use to say a few words wrong. Being in Chicago had no other choice but to hear his music. I really started to pay full attention to his music at 10 or 11 when I first heard TP-2 & Loveland

well, I've only been a Kells fan since 2007 literally the day after I'm a Flirt was released as a single (the remix). but I've been through some shit during those past few years and came out a little stronger and wiser (especially about women). so yes, I understand and relate to CF more now.

I purchased the 12 Play album the day it dropped back in 93, i was 13. At the time I used to think the sex references were funny as hell. Went back and picked up BORN INTO THE 90s a few weeks later.
thruout 94/95, fell in love with his music, concert, the soundtrack songs, production for others (Changing Faces, Aaliyah)...in R&B my production idols were Devante, TR and R Kelly.

In 95, I became 'a man' the day i copped the selftitled album...lol...goodtimes...that was my favorite album by him at the time. R dropped when i was 18...college, that is one of my least favorite R albums tho. Too many BadBoy soundin tracks...by that i mean that trackmasters/Puffy sound. Had it been a single cd woulda been classic. TP2.com became my new fave Kells album at 20. CF was classic, HP/USM is classic too. I dont listen to HP that much, usually 'safe' music to play at get togethers. I LOVE USM...tying tp2 for fave Kells cd. I can always listen to that album to get uplifted.
UNTITLED and DOUBLE UP are my least fave Kells albums, though they both have a lot of great songs. TP3 was great too, and sounds much better now than when it first dropped. At 30 tho, I want to see the R grow again, i know its not whats radio now, but you gotta play to your strengths while challenge yourself as an artist to keep yourself and the audience interested. I will always buy his music regardless.

I am 25 and I understand exactly where your coming from. The first song i ever learned from anybody was R kelly Slow dance. then we got 12 play to tp-2, and when he dropped CF and HP/USM I was like this isnt R. Kelly. But now that I'm older My favorite songs of his are the songx with meaning and not the ones about sex. I hope from here on out since He and his fan base its getting older is that he touch us with those meaningful songs with a little carnal here and there.
