Some people don't like it, and I guess it's their right. 3121 had some great jams on it (though it took me a while to get into), as did Musicology and Rainbow Children. Rainbow Children as a whole is probably one of his most accomplished albums so far. Oh, and his new single, 'Guitar'? Funky as hell.

Don't agree with you at all on Double Up though.
oh yeh, the rainbow children was just flawless. that single guitar was just to concide with the superbowl...dont confuse it with 'a brand new single' or something from the upcomming album.

as for what u said bout the new CD, yes the perfume is out on this date but, according to this artical...so is the new cd...

    Source: Hidden Content

He's performing 21 nights in London and seven nights in Los Angeles this summer. But Prince is doing only one night in his hometown at July 7 at Target Center in Minneapolis.

It will coincide with the release of a new CD anticipated on 07/07/07. Expect an official announcement of the concert with ticket details early next week...

this artical is up on Princes HouseQuake site as a main news headline too.

im glad u enjoy 'double up' i still want to see kelly do well and im glad hes getting full suport from his fans on his latest.

This has been a really interesting debate. My take is a combination of a few theories. I believe that he is bored and he wants to release some other prjects like MV and whatever happen to The Relief album for Katrina. I think he has a few things happening:

    1. I think because of the case the label won't let him release the projects he wants because they may come off ingenuine due to the case.

    2. I also believe he thinks the best way to stay relevant is to do the Hip Hop stuff. The irony is that these albums are his lowest performing albums. At the same time the Neyo's, Usher's, heck the Omarion's are pushing units and getting big hits by doing R&B. He said on his Youtube site. He stopped the Makin' Babies album for this one.

    3. This album is a bit over the place it's better than most of his other ventures in HipHop, but as Max said what does that say. To me, he's one of those artists that are so stubborn that he will continue doing something until he is successful. As strange as this may sound, the best thing for him and his fans is if this a huge hit album. Then he can finally get this BOBW disease out of his system LOL...

Overall, the slow jams are pretty nice and the hip hop track are better than I though, but he's capable of so much more.

    Prince???

Prince has not been as relevant as he was in the past. Music does change and it happens to all artists. I love Prince I've been a huge fan for years, but I do understand when they say his music isn't hitting like 20 years ago.

R Kelly is important because he can merge from genre to genre, Prince was never really popular with the Brotha's, I remember when he posed nude on the cover of Love Sexy, most men wouldn't touch that record except to laugh or when he had his butt out on the Grammy Awards singing Gett Off. Kellz is a Brotha he looks like a Brotha.

I think R Kelly is throwing music out like he's cleaning out his closet. He ain't bringing it the way we are used to, he's changed his style this is the new era of R Kelly and I'm sure that 3 years from now he may change back who knows, except Kellz.

I have ROCKSTAR on myspace and i have rec'd comments and messages from friends saying they LOVE this song.

In fact, one person I know HATES HipHop and she said that as soon as this song is available she is downloading it on iTunes.

    Major......the song is Major.

i can't speak on your area of the United states, but in my area of the USA Brothers use to dig Prince, but Prince lost the funk a long time ago. Prince had Love in the Hood from 78-82. His Synth Grooves got him a whole lot of love. controversy and 1999 were Loved by Brothers in the Hood back in the day, what turned cats off with Prince wasn't just about Image (and in fact he got dap for the Chicks He use to have like Vanity,Shelia E. and Susan from (Vanity 6 and appllonia 6)etc...) He went too Pop and once "Purple Rain" went big the funk and Groove that cats felt in his Music took a major turn toward a More Pop Accessible Sound. LoveSexy was just too Cluttered as a Album. the cover didn't help, but the Music didn't hit and that is the bottom line. He lost that Pulse of Groove he once had. but when He did his stuff with the Time He had the Love there except until "ice Cream castles" which sounded too Milky.

as for R.Kelly, He just stays in his zone and he drops a few things here and there but he stays R&B and hasn't lost that base. R did things that Prince did by working with Celine Dion and a Britney Spears, but a Cat like Kellz never lost his R&B Groove as Prince did. yeah tastes and styles change, but that doesn't mean you lose your base and Respect. it ain't about how you look either because that is a Stereotype. Prince looks like a Black Man. He might be Flamboyant and whatnot but he looks like a Brother, but what works against anybody is when you try to change your stuff and you end up alienating your audience. when prince was doing the Synth Grooves and had a Balance then folks were feeling him. Prince has chicago Love. Marva Collins will tell you about Prince and chicago.

his quality in music from 1999 onwards is right back on track and thats a fact...u will say its not cos its prince...he has a lot to live up to and u will just automaticly say no, he hasnt lived up...u understand what im gettin at there?
his next album (released on 07/07/07) is gunna be even better....u wont be able to dissagree....2001's The Rainbow children? enough said.

    any way, back on kells.

i stand by all ive said. infact, i consider it worse then tp3 defo. its his worst so far. sorry folks but R. has let himself down BIG. if he drops another album like this again...i will just have to cut him off as an artist of today and the future....and more a thing of the past. he was one of them lights shining on a dim future of popular music...hes fading out with these shody albums hes dropping.

im just stating how i feel y'all. i respect all others opinions.
ain't nobody caring about no Prince. His studio stuff has been erratic for almost 20 years. Live is all that is keeping his thing happening. and Prince is gonna release another Lemon Album. he needed SideWriter,Producer and new Sound Years ago back when more folks cared. Folks think of him in a Nostelgia kind of way aside from his fans. Prince lost the Funk and lost that certain thing he once had a long time ago.

and while Double Up ain't knocking me out,R still clearly Kicks Prince's Ass Musically. R has been far more consistant than Prince period. R is almost 2 decades straight with keeping his thing together. Prince is 2 decades deep of being a Has-Been doing alot of Corny Albums and no Hits that nobody cares about. put it like this:if R.Kelly did the Super Bowl he could songs from the 90's and 00's along with something new and folks would bop there heads to it,Prince is limited to his early 80's hey day and nobody is buying that garbage he is putting out. as for the Rainbow children which was a Poor Attempt at sounding like D'angelo and Eraka Badu and others on the Neo -Soul Bandwagon. Prince is desperate. "Black sweat" sounded like a Reject Dr.Dre Production.

you ain't been around no real Music Lovers if you are gonna come in here and defend a Has-been,Hit-Less played out Cat like Prince.especially when you factor in that R.Kelly has burried dude over the past decade and change amongest others. ain't nobody talked about a Prince album in 20 years. R.Kelly still keeps people talking and he ain't slipped. now there are better Albums in the Kellz catelog no doubt, but He more often than not gets it right. you can bet your bottom dollar that if Prince could make a Album like R.Kelly and make it work he would be doing it. Kellz could Bring Prince back, but He told I can't think of the radio cat now that while he respects and Admires Prince that He ain't that cool with him like that. but R could up-date Prince with a Modern Beat, because Prince desperately needs one. if worse comes to Worse Prince could always apply for a Midget Role in one of the Trapped in the closet Chapters.
