to maxx statement about r's artistic freedom, anytime a label lets u follow up Chocolate Factory ,which had a gigantic hit w/ Ignition, with a steppers/gospel album, he must have some freedom. i think he's just stayin relevant. thats why he's proclaiming his greatness, cuz u got quite a few young cats like Ne-Yo, T-Pain, and Akon that are comin out and sellin like rap cats

R has been talking about the Music Virus Project since 03 and he has said he was ready to drop the Project 3 years back. all them cats you mentioned ain't about shit. Ne-Yo is a Homeless Michael Jackson Musically. T-Pain is a Constipated Roger Troutman and Broke. Akon: a Punch Drunk Non-singing One trick Broke Turkey. Rappers right now aside from a few ain't selling that much. I'd take a R.Kelly MV on germany over being Relevent Right about Now. I love that Bold Move of doing "Happy People/U Saved Me" and even though it didn't sell through the Roof it was a strong Artistic statement and it came out during Usher's confessions and Beyonce, Alicia Keys were Hot during that time, but Kellz had his own thing with that.

but this is still how he feeds his family

alot of artists are capable of more than they do. but im sure it aint easy for r. kelly to do an album anyway. 18 songs is just a snapshot of your ability when you're probably doin 5-6 songs a day. so he goes with what is best to put him a better position to stay on top the charts and do alot of shows while still givin his longtime fans what he is known for w/ the slow cuts and the inspirational song

Right. "I Like Love" is only on the Non US CD. But it still seems odd. Rob speaks about the MV in the intro of the song and it seems out of place with the overall theme of the Double Up CD.

When I heard it, I thought...Why is Kells talking about MV Project NOW? Not consistent. It must have been thrown in at the last minute, and he should have changed the into lyrics on the song. He did change up the lyrics at the end for 'fans in other countries' but the intro wasn't changed. Old track thrown in last minute.

Overall, Double Up is much better than originally touted, they changed the R&B percentage and left some tracks off, I think they read what we write here as part of their research on what fans want.

Sounds like the idea of releasing albums in different countries with different music styles particular to those countries busted, and he switched it up to releasing MV songs as international bonus tracks. Not a bad idea, really. (I haven't heard I Like Love yet, so I can't say what exactly he says about the MV project.)

The problem with the MV project is that the US label (Jive) have absolutely nothing to do with what's released in other countries. Hell, they can shop an album to their international distributors, but other than perhaps England, Germany and Japan, there aren't many countries that'd pick an experimental album up without it being a hit in the US first.

the thing i don't gett about double up is the fact that he doesnt show his voice. even singers that do music that isnt good show of their vocals.

people are saying taht ne-yo is the best R&B singer because hes releasing r&b and not singing hip hop. and ne-yo aint even as good as r. kelly vocally or musically. even if he didnt release MV it doesnt mean he couldnt atlest put some good R&B music on his CD's and take off the poor attempts at R&B...hes allowing people like Ne-Yo and USher to be called R&B

but i do like 'the champ' though but i was expecting him 2 do some thing impressive when the lion was roaring but nothing happened...lol gone to play Chocolate Factory and Happy People/U Saved Me

i dont think he needs to prove he is r-and-b TO ANYONE?!

its a catch 22 with the public. if he releases r-and-b he is going to sell 500K to 1mil and people are going to say "hey?! where did r.kelly go?! he has dropped off the face of the earth?!" ...and... if he releases songs like "Double Up" people are going to think he is trying to sell out......?

Just because Ne-yo's songs are slow tempo and there is VERY poor attempt at harmonizing and singing on that CD does NOT make it r-and-b. his last CD is not creative, interesting, sung well or produced well. its garbage. I WILL take a DOUBLE UP CD from Kellz that has creativity, catchy hooks and lyrics and TRUE creative and artistic colors over a bland waste of $13 that the ne-yo CD was.

and i dont have the time or the patience to discuss ursher...........
