Brian mcknight is the most technically and the fundamentally sound singer in R n b today period. There is no male singer in mainstream R n B who can do the things brian does live with his voice. I do think that Rob has more charm and feeling in voice though. However the older masters are still on top like Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Teddy Pendergrass, Al Greene, Sam Cooke, Charlie wilson, Marvin jr of the dells, Michael Jackson, Ron isley. Yes Michael Jackson's voice was slightly more skilled than Rob's , listen to the stuff he did in the seventies especially the ballads. The problem with Rob right now is that he is rap singing too much, he is not coming up with material that can really test and showcase his vocal skills which is really sad

I personally considered "Trade in my life" Kelz's best vocal performance, but the live soul train performance of WAWL simply blew me away, in any case, I don't think there is now anyone out there who doubts that R Kelly certainly has one of the best singing voices ever.

if R sings in the love letter mode then there is no denying, and the one intro that truly puts hin in the legendary circle is when he does bump and grind live. i mean the intro, range and control is scary.

actual underrated is his voicings for trapped in the closet especiallt adlibs phone rings, phone rings, it's the subtle moments which shows how bad he is.

trade in my life vocally still is mind blowing. when he is singing/sanging he is a beast.

soul train showed how badd he is when he brings the goods

I agree completely, i also still can't believe how well he sang the Bump and grind intro, we don't have to choose who has the best voice but we have to admit that he has one of the best ever.

The thing about Rob's voice is that when you think you've heard the best of it, he comes out to tell you "hell no you haven't" Soul Train Performance was an eye opener.

yeah i agree..his best vocals to me was soldiers heart/trade in life......... but he is versatile as hell. this is up to debate if he has the best vocals but no other artist in soul music has been as consistent as kellz period

just tonight walking outside i was listening to a old kellz mix tape i made when "the big c" comes on and the shift with his voice and character is still mind boggling.

also that acoustic jam session he did on location back in the summer while tyrese was filimg was the truth.

20 years later and still wailing he is scary and i welcome him when he is truly singing. he can't be touched when he is going for his.
