Yes when it comes to what sounds good to me.....R. Kelly is the best imo.....the guy can put out the worst song ever....but his voice sucks me in....

i'm really shocked no one has put prince into the mix.....for range.....ever hear the guy speak than the first five seconds of "gett off" should tell you all you need to know....perhaps the widest range in mainstream music....(yes prince is still mainstream his last few albums all debut in the top 5.....)

i saw some love for the hailey brothers....k-ci is the star out of them 2

for sex smooth and sensual....i still got my money on maxwell/barry white/luther/ronald

than again....what are we defining as a great singer? range? versatility? hits? live? polished?

    so many variables

Maxwell wouldn't be who he is on a guest hook......same with luther.....ronald well....we know he can kill it

I seen this around the TP-2 eraHidden Content and OMG i really think everyone on this board needs to see that performance. the crazything is....he was on the stage with other great singers and his voice stood out!!!! u know how at gospel shows they usually have all the singers come together to sing a finale.....and rob was in the audience and told rob to come up there and he refused prolly because he knows that people know he's a secular artist.....then when he finally did go up there, he sang kinda mediocre but he really started gettin into...you could feel the soul, strength, and passion in his voice. people in the audiece went crazy and was amazed at how he sounded; even donnie mcclurkin was shakin his head in amazementHidden Content it really POWEFUL!!!! after that, i believe alot of people wanted him to go gospel!!! i hope we can get that performance on dvd or something!!! Has anyone else on this board seen that performance and can help me explain how amazing that performance was?????Hidden Content

To me - he is one of the best.

I find it laughable that anyone would say Maxwell or Michael Jackson is better. LOL!

    and Prince? Come on now....

MJ was probably less versatile but also quite possibly more expressive at his best

They are both geniuses in their own right I would say

I think he has a very versatile...soulful voice...but like mistermaxxx said he does'nt really flat out sing/sang anymore. But i know he still has it cause i heard him sing Sam Cooke "A change gonna Come" last year at his concert....and he murdered it with ease.

I also used to think that R's voice was just good, but after hearing "If I were a boy" and "I had a dream", i really think that he's got one of the most versatile and greatest voices out there, and can hold his own with many of the greats.
