think Would R.Kelly Flourish at a Different Label?

A lot of questions come up and should come up on this thread......

Would R.Kelly Flourish at a Different Label?

Do you think it might be time for R.Kelly to find a different label?
Do you think maybe its Jive/Zomba pushing him to be more trendy than musical?

This is a short list of current Jive Artists:
    Backstreet Boys
    Chris Brown
    Ciara
    Huey
    Jordin Sparks
    Justin Timberlake
    Lil Mama
    TPain
    Usher

Is this the label R.Kelly's talents are best showcased at???

I voted "no" in the sense that it doesn't matter if he switched labels, I think he would sell the same amount of records and do the same type of music. Rob is a business man and he's going to do some music in an attempt to just sell records and that is why the traditional R&B fan base of Rob's complains but I would argue that we still buy his music anyway. Rob fans are supportive pretty much no matter what and he knows that. He knows that he has a very strong core fan base that will be there for him no matter what type of music he puts out. I'm trying to think of where else he would go. I mean, what labels really do a fantastic job of encouraging their artist to make music that is not "trendy"? Show me that label and I'm sure those artists are pretty much going wood on their sales and no record label exec wants that.

He would get pushed back on Interscope and Def Jam ...No promotion on Sony...Atlantic would encourage him to make snap music and won't promote him

I voted "No". These record companies have been merged over the years, and it seems like it's the same thing everywhere. It wouldn't make any significant difference especially when it comes to promotion and musical direction. And we're not thinking of him going to independent labels.

Nope....Jive is the best place for R Kelly and they have never left him or dropped him when this case hit, most labels would have abandoned ship and just for that simple fact he should stay and long as the relationship is still a win win for both.

Naw Man. if this was 10 years back then yeah when he had his Boutique Label deal with Interscope for Rockland records. but now he would just be dangling and he is too deep in the game. a 20 year veteren ain't gonna get Chris Brown Budget and PR no matter who he is. all these Labels Pimp you so unless you take it upon yourself to do some stuff on your own terms, then you are wasting your time with these labels.Ageism will start to creep in on Kellz because the Biz is funny like that especially toward Black Artists as they start to get a little older. but Kellz is a Songwriter and Producer so if all else fails the Brother got other skills to fall back on,but Industry Veterens ain't getting no crazy budgets. them days are long gone and at most it still comes down to hitting the road, ringtones and doing other things.

good question but wrong era and time Man. the music business of 2008 is just a few plantations and they end up all Pimping you just the same.

Although i think that Jive doesn't fully promote Kells like it's supposed to be, i do think that no other label will actually do that. Kells just needs to make his music do the talking and promoting.

Kells would flourish anywhere, I think. But he needs to get more promotion from his current label, I think that's obvious. Jive has completely fucked up the Hair Braider advertising, for example.

Same here. If his music does the talking we don't have to care about the labels promoting him.
