Thread: What is R. Kelly known for more? Singer or songwriter/producer?

I agree with everyone. He's definitely a prolific songwriter and I think he approaches his music as a musician rather than a singer. He's kinda of like Donny Hathaway in that respect.

Totally agree. Not too many people give props to his vocal ability like they do to his songwriting/producing.
I can see why sometimes. One of possible reasons is that he's not known for his runs and vocal acrobatics.
