Thread: What is R. Kelly known for more? Singer or songwriter/producer?

What do you guys think R. Kelly is mostly known for? Is he more known for his talent as a singer OR his talent as a songwriter/producer?

Kellz is more known for his song writing abilities...i mean to b honest, up until last yr, I've never heard folks say he's "vocally dangerous"...he's more known for his song writing skills and how his music is so real...

tough one???? imo, Both! but i know some people that recognize him more for his writing

Definitely both, only those who know a few of his hits, and never really listened to his albums don't think he is vocally great, I mean by 1995 he had shown how great he was vocally with songs like Bump and Grind, Slow Dance, Trade in my life etc and also written for Michael Jackson.

a soulful singer,however the songwriting and production usually carrys more weight

Vocally dangerous? o__O lol

They usually associate him with production and writing skills then the singing but lately its been the vocals...

people needs to see the performance with him and donnie mcclurkin singing 'stand'....1 of the greatest vocal performances ever! that'll put any doubts of how amazing he can sing!

although I think he known for both, I think he's known a bit more for his writing and producing, especially considering how much he's done for other artists

I think its his talent of songwriting. we've heard ppl say they were envious of his writing ability moreso the singing. now recently ppl are REALLY noticing & respecting his voice more
