Thread: 'Trapped' Excitement?

All of us here I think are TRUE and EXPERT R.Kelly fans. So, as a group, how excited were you REALLY about Trapped In The Closet?

I mean, IMO, I was excited but its nothing really I thought would take off like this. It is revolutionary and VERY creative and only someone like R.Kelly has the skills to make that a pop culture hit.

How did you feel about it when you first heard the concept/series?

I was very excited. it was the hype discussion amongst everybody trying to figure out what's going happen next. It's like I never wanted to leave my car cause I thought I would miss when they break the new chapter. lol.

Kells was pure genius with TITC cause he had people who couldn't stand his guts tunning in to see what was going to happen next. That was brilliant.

With that said, I think that when (if) he start releasing chapters again, that initial excitment/shock won't be there. Kinda like it has died down now and while people still want to hear it, it's not new and fresh anymore. I can't really express what I'm trying to say so I hope y'all get what I'm saying. lol.

i totally agree w/ that. i would have never thought that it would be THAT popular when i heard chapter 1.

I was totally caught up in trapped.....I enjoyed the DVD but I wished it was a little different when it came to James and Bridgett....Man Kathy, Chuck and Rufus was on fiyah...I loved all their scenes especially chapter 12. Can't wait to see what happens next.

I was very excited about it...I grew up watching soap opera's and still do today...I went all around town searching for the next chapter when it was released...I drove my husband crazy!

It was a bit of anti-climax for me, I like the first five chapters and really was looking forward to the next twist but then listening to 6 & 7 I kinda lost interest as it was spiralling out of control, I still bought the DVD but only to add to my collection rather than to watch day in day out

I must say that I still like the first 3 chapters the best and still listen to them today. Chapter 1 is my ringtone.

Great topic:I was all in it with the music&the story-line coming from it. I laughed my ass off. still listen to 1-5&the whole DVD. it's very creative&there is nothing else out here like it. I think what makes so cool is that it's so left field. I think coming from a R&B Artist it's really something else all together because nobody else is thinking outside of the box like that. it didn't go with the TP3 Album at all in hindsight&It was so Dominant that you forgot all about the rest of the Project,but because&I say this no other Artist has a Fan Base that is Accepting of whatever Project or vibe that whatever R.Kelly wants to do. we are the most open-minded music fans on the planet. who else could have pulled off what R.Kelly did in 2006? I mean He touched on a One Night stand with endless possible situations.he touched on Homosexuality,a Minister,etc.... the kind of stuff that is hardly ever talked about in Music.also him being the Narrator is something else because this Man truly shines as a story-teller. the whole Midget coming out from under the Kitchen sink still cracks me up to this day.

I loved Chapter 1 the first time I heard it, and still love it now. It was something incredible, that's for sure. The way the narration flowed, eventually accumulating tension and leaving you with an ending that gave you a lot to think about. Personally, I thought the rest of the chapters were unnecessary and took a lot of the magic away from what was one of R. Kelly's best songs. They're entertaining, that's for sure, but they could never have lived up to the original.
