Thread: R. Kelly - Screamer

At first I didn't like that track. Just another sex song with the vocoder on it. But after a few spins it definatly has something on it. However, I'm gonna give it three R's.
But when I heard it the first time, I was so dissapointed because the song has so much potential to be even better. The beat is overdone and takes all of the attention away from the singing which is damaged by the vocoder anyway. But somehow it has a good vibe to it.

I agree, if he lost vocoder on this song it could have real potential, it's so much going on that you can't even hear the lyrics and singing.

The vocoder thing is not the problem for me here. I was kinda hyped til about the first 20 seconds into the song thinking "This might be on some quirky vibe" but after that it was ok...wanted to listen to the other tracks instead. 3 Rs.

Naw, 2 Rs. One of the worst songs of the album, along with Hair Braider, Skin and Two Seater (ugh!). But I have to give it up for that cool rendition of Prince's Purple Rain at the end. That's the only great thing about this song, though.

Co-sign. One of the worst. 2.5 Rs for me, but it'll only get the bottom 2. The 'Purple Rain' rendition is the best thing of this song IMO. It's damn cool. And I also enjoy those funny screams in the background. But the vocoder and the annoying chorus...

Same thing happened to me. I was expecting much more from the first 20 seconds of the song but when he began to vocoder-sing like that it became more of the same, boring. One of the songs I skip.
