Real Talk, Kickin it wit Your GF, Might be Mine--these are all songs about truly hurtful events. But what is part of Kells' genius is that he rips off the fuckin band-aid and presents the pain as it is. because the facts are that the topics he sings about in these songs are not only painful, but they also can be unexpectedly humorous.
in Kickin it wit your gf, for example, Kells mentions how, on some level, it may partially be the chick's fault: "these are the reasons why some girls don't bring they friends around." (I'm quoting off the top of my head, so don't bust my balls if that wasn't an exact quote.)
another example would be the ENTIRE Real Talk song. yes, it's painful, but this song also reveals the ultimate triviality of brief relationships. and how over-fuckin-dramatic they can get.
as for Might Be Mine, I honestly believe that Kells is tryina do the same thing here--taking a serious situation and removing the fuckin drama from it.
he of course is acknowledging the seriousness of what's happening (knockin up a random stripper), but I think that cos of his own personal strength, Kells has the courage to say to errbody that, ultimately "shit happens," and we should try to find a "silver lining" in events that we consider to be bad.
And that if we can't find that so-called silver lining, we should at least tryand find the humor in it. Because, as the saying goes, "I keep on laughin, just to keep from cryin."
