Well, last week I listened to both songs back to back and noticed that on 'A Love Letter Christmas' there are Christmas Bells in the background. You can hear them all the way through, but you will notice best if you listen to the songs back to back. It was something so subtle, that you'd probably miss it under normal circumstances and just had me thinking how much Rob pays attention to detail - greatness.
By the way Im not talking about the Cow Bell, Im talking about Christmas Bells.
So, the next thing - as 'A Love Letter Christmas' is for the festive period I feel its only really appropriate to listen to it then, although I do listen to it now. I love the breakdown and the freestyle, but I love the fact that 'Love Letter' has 3 verses and an extended instrumental outro.
Love both songs, but 'Love Letter' takes it - oh, and I would love to see Rob perform this live with him on the piano somewhat emulating Stevie Wonder. I think he would have people eating out of his hands for sure.![]()

^^just wanna say great thoughts V.I.P. props.
anyway, i also think ALLC is only for festive occasions, which is why LL wins out.
BUT... ALLC does have that breakdown at the end that reminds me of the steppin songs.
so I pick LL, but that doesn't mean i don't think ALLC is bad or anything like that.

Love Letter for the same reason Exit said. Can't get into the Christmas spirit in February or any month other than December. Lol.
Love Letter because of the part at the end when the instrumental gets to breathe a little. I love that beat.
You're so beautiful... How can I make you understand that I wanna kiss and I wanna touch every little inch of your body. - R. Kelly
love letter song, the remix is cute and IMo he should have done it for Valentine's day IMO, because World Christmas >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a Love Letter Christmas. the only thing I like about ALLC is that he adds the cowbell and he does the Stevie Wonder "do I do" freestyle near the end, but it feels half baked IMO.
Love Letter song though is a cool Stevie Wonderesque cut with a Modern day feel and tone and unless he did a different groove or something to it, then that is the only way I could dig it more.
no contest here for me.
for the record I can listen to Christmas music all year long especially Donny hathaway's "this Christmas", if a song is classic or tight then it gets spin from me no matter what time of the year.
I voted ALLCcuz it has more of him than LL does...
Love is strong; Love is tight
Thanks for pointing out that subtle difference. Now I'm listening to both songs back to back myself. Can't decide...One thing's for sure, tho, I can listen to ALLC all year round, just like any other Christmas song. I love winter and songs about winter or Christmas are always welcome.
