I agree with BDiddy. I think the album is one of his best work yet, I could only wish to have been in the studio when that album was recorded.

Well I don't think it's underrated. It has gotten good reviews and most people agree that it's a great album. There's nothing underrated about it imo. It was just totally non-commercial, and that's probably what makes this one the most unique out of all R. Kelly albums. It was never meant to be a huge success. And nevertheless it was his third best opening week, if I remember correctly, and sold 1.5 million copies. All that without much commercial hype and single charts positions? It's not underrated at all imo.
Let me just put it like this and y'all can add your comments:
Maybe Happy People/U Saved Me was that step back from the spotlight that his music needs?
How about that?
i picked under rated but when i ticked that i meant that it was under-rated in terms of the people buying it.
i dont think there was any other radio friendly songs on Happy People/U Saved accept for Stepping Into Heaven and probably "how did you manage"
There best he should of done was have events where hes singing songs from the album. Like other singers do like John Legend.
I couldn't agree more with that statement. What he did in 'Happy People/U Saved Me', staying away from the commercial/sales buzz, 'this is what the general public is expecting from R. Kelly' kind of mentality, and focusing on what his heart is singing to him is what his music needs recently. But that's just my opinion.
I think 'Happy People/U Saved Me' is both, absolutely non-commercial and a bit underrated by those people who may feel put off by a concept album.
Overall I like Happy People real deeper. One of the best projects he ever produced and created. As Maxx saids, this album is filled with Grown Folks style. First and foremost, I don't play U Saved Me as much but it's great though. But "Happy People" is what I did even more 'cuz of that energy, the movement, the feeling, the revolution on these topics on what R&B was before and after or then and now (in other words).
