Thread: Feelings On: Ignition (remix)

Since we have been dicussing R and "the remix".........

I remember it like it was yesterday: He hit us with Ignition and towards the end of the song, A HINT of a possible Remix.


I scowered the Internet looking to catch a glimpse of the remix, but for days and weeks no avail. Then one day...I HEARD IT.


Ignition Remix is one of Kellz BEST Remixes IMO. The way it shifts and goes from the original to the remix is incredible. The originality, musicality, style and overall innovation of the hit R-and-B track in a music world dominated by hip-hop is amazing.

What are everyone's thoughts on, argueably, one of his most popular songs?

Absoultely Incredible!!

It was this song which was the start of me becoming an R.Kelly fan. I always respected him and loved alot of his songs but this made me delve into his entire catalogue and made me realise that he is an undoubted musical genius and one of a kind...

I remember when it first came out. I really really hated it. This was when i wasnt a fan of his so i didn't really know him apart from the obvious songs. Then i started listening to his other songs then it happened. 2 years later i suddenly liked the song. Its good but i'm not sure if its his best remix. Maybe step in the name of love not sure

Yeh I like it, very radio friendly but I now normally by-pass it if it plays on my iPod, but I love what it stands for, it opened alot of peoples eyes outside of the R&B world, by its worldwide success it showed Rob's still got it and shut alot of people up!

I remember that I heard the original and the remix back to back on the radio over here, and I was slowly realizing that this was not only a brand new Kellz song, it's also a masterpiece. That was at a time when I wasn't always up to date with Kellz news, so I was really, really surprised to hear it, and some weeks later it became huge. It's an amazing song.

It'a good remix, no doubt, but I don't think his best. When it first heard it, I didn't really know what to think about it. A few days later I bought Chocolate Factory and in the first week I played th remix non-stop. I think the sad thing about it is that it was so successful (at least in the UK and the US) that a lot of Kells later remixes sound alike. For example "In the kitchen-Remix" or "Slow Wind-Remix". I think when it comes to the remixes he lost some of his creativity. But maybe I'm wrong, I hope he comes up with some original remixes of his next hits.

Plus, I think that he should start giving his remixes names again, like he did back in the days, like "Old School Mix", "Summer bunnies contest Remix" or "Hypnosis Mix"
