Thread: 12Play4thQarter or Gospel Album ?

Now we havn't heard anything about 12 Play 4th Qarter for while now and Hairbraider which probably should have been used as a lead single flopped big time.
At the same time we have rumours about a gospel album floating around which would fit the end of the trial.
Which option do you like best ?

Hairbraider didnt flop because of the song. Hairbraider flopped because Jive didnt want to pump money into a single during a trial where he could have gone to jail for 15 years. It was obvious that Jive wasnt behind the song. With little or no promotion its still holding on to some charts.

He needs to do 12Play 4Q. He needs to take his time with this one. He needs to release it for the Holiday buying season end of 2008. With the US Economy being the way it is more people are going to go with more cost effective gifts like CDs and MP3 gift cards than the more high priced items. I think he could see a nice sales pop from that and from his first album off of the trial. But he NEEDS TO TAKE HIS TIME. July/August is too soon.

Then the gospel album for 2009.

I think 12 Play 4th Quarter would be good for Kells because it's a fun one. if he is gonna do a gospel album he should take his time on it and reflect.

But basically I'm just being selfish here because I want some new slow jams from Kells.

I said the Gospel album because given the hell he just got out of from the past 6 years, I think it's only right for him to give God the glory in the form of a gospel album for the world to hear. I just want him to follow his heart on his next album and not necessarily what will chart. I know he has to remain an astute business man but I think an inspirational/Gospel album will do his spirit well. I just honestly want to hear the man "SANG" again. I just want to hear all of that heartfelt emotion pour out into his songs.

So now Robert needs to give thanks. For all of his blessing and all the love his fans give him. It doesn't have to be a gospel album but it should be inspiring with it's message.

I love gospel and I'd love a gospel album from Kellz, but not now. I want 12 Play 4Q. I'm sure he is giving thanks to God everyday for blessing him, but he doesn't need to prove he loves God by making a gospel album. He should continue with his R&B for this next album, whenever it comes, because I'm sure he has some great cuts for us. And maybe he can throw in one or two spiritual songs like he's done in the past.

I voted for the Gospel Album too and the main reason is that I think it's perfect timing. This is the time to thank God, Family, Fans and so on. Besides the gospel songs I would be thankful for a few songs to celebrate.
As long as 12Play 4th Quarter contains similair material to Double Up or TP.3 I'd say leave it a that. The lack of promotion might have been one reason why the song flopped but even if Jive would've promoted it in an accurate way it wouldn't have gone further as Playas Only or I'm a flirt Remix in my opinion. And that just ain't enough for someone called R. Kelly.
Qualitywise and also on the side of commercial success a Gospel Album has more potential than 12Play 4th Quarter right now. Therefore, bring it on !

I voted for the Gospel album, that would be great. Another Kellz project. Remember the gospel scene from TITC. Man he sings his ass of, it's simply great. I love it. Like he said, he ain't doin it for the radio nor for the charts...If the gospel album will be good, I don't give a damn if it only sells 100k in it's first week.

I agree with that, too.

12 play 4th quarter for me. He has plenty of time to come up with a gospel album and knowing Kells he can pull it off in a year. He's been working on 12 play 4th quarter for a while so why not finish it with releasing the album?
I don't really like Hairbraider and i still think that it's not worth being a single but it was a really bad timing in releasing it, they obviously didn't put any money in it. cause we got some fucking low-budget video and most radio stations didn't want to play the song cause they didn't know what to do cause he was on trial. So i think they'll have to come up with a new strategy and a new single.

Hey he can put out 2 albums.
