Thread: 12-Play 4Q LEAK: Good Move? Bad Move?

i think it depends on how the album got out if someone stole it like they did bobw and loveland then its a very bad move, but if keels aloud this album to leak then i am fully with him all the way!

i voted that it was a bad move because of my reasons above!

From the Philly radio post and all the articles on MTV, I think its gotten a buzz. Now its time to go clean up the tracks, throw some strings and heavy vocals on them add some of the smash hits his has hidden in the vaults and release a multi platinum album.

I don't really have anything to directly answer the question, but I felt this thread is the best one to post the thing that goes through my mind regarding the release of 12 Play 4th Quarter.

I have always said I don't believe the album will be released, and despite the leak, no actually because of the leak, I still think it will not be released. I mean, seriously. The possibility of it getting released with a handful of new songs and some tweaks and changes is not really realistic imo. The idea of leaking an album at a time where there's not even a release date in sight, and some months later to actually release that very album, even if it contains just half of the leaked tracks and the other half new, that sounds like a suicide of sales if you ask me. Who expects an album that has - if just partially - been available online for months already to actually be successful? Marketing-wise and commercially, and logically, I just cannot see it happen. It would be close to insanity.

This leak will not see an official release. And I stick with it, there will be no 12 Play 4th Quarter. He has shouted that album title out too often for too long, with too many of the session material being leaked. Won't happen. This will get the Makin' Babies, Relief album and MV treatment.

The R. - You may have a point....but I'm hoping that's not true. I would be very very disappointed. Although it does seem strange that no one from R Kelly or Jive has made an official statement about the leak. Maybe they are waiting to see how the next single does before an actual release date is set.

Jive is probably not really sure if it's the right time to release such a sexual cd so soon after the trial...IMO...but I'm hoping your wrong.

Lets get this straight...Jive have no idea what they are doing! In terms of logic, The R is spot on...BUT...for that reason alone, Jive will probably go ahead and release this joint because they are soo darn clueless!

Jive is not pro-active at all in this. The label should have a plan for their platinum selling artist. Don't know who's in charge over there, but they're sitting on their duffs reacting in slow motion. Too much second guessing and nothing gets done. But I"m still optimistic there will be an official release for this album.

If it gets a release they will add some new songs probably one or two songs with another artist too. Jive wants what's hot these days and they probably don't think that a concept like this will sell that's why they're fucking up this project. And to answer the question: I think it all depends how people will react when they hear this album. Personally i think it's a good move if this is just a warm up
