Even though the song was bought from the group and already had the verse, the lyrics still has possibility to be interpreted like AZ suggested. Who knows Kellz actually had the lady in question as R&B metaphor in his head? We could still ask him and get the answer. I'm leaning to think the lyrics is in the line with his other relationship songs with storyline, tho.

Voted for "Yes". At least, it makes all sense compared to Rhiana being called an "R&B" artist.

what your daying probably could be true but r. kelly didnt write the song he bought it from someone else - nephu. so what ever the song is saying it aint specifically about Usher and R. Kelly.

when i first heard it i thought they may have been talking about RnB not about passing the torch to anyone.

i thought the pol lwas about whether the "same girl" could be classed as R&B so i chose yes

like what big dan said it reminds me of when i had to analyse poems in english and had to imagine things being there when it wasnt.

That idea of R&B being the same girl is not so far-fetched... but I really don't know so that's why I decided not to vote on this poll. Maybe...

I really don't know. I think it can be interpreted both ways. But I thought your interpretations were very interesting, AZ. Something for me to ponder, I guess.

Where did DeRogatis write about this? He seems to be a huge fan even though he apparently strongly dislikes Kellz as a person. Did y'all see this barb in his review of Chris Brown's last album?

"Sometimes, great art is made by reprehensible human beings, and squaring the two is enormously difficult. Thankfully, that problem isn’t nearly as thorny when reprehensible human beings make art that is thoroughly mediocre and at times just garbage."

    Jim DeRogatis
