There are plenty of artists that are EXCELLENT musicians and singers. The argument isnt about their credibility as an artist. These guys are GREAT representers of a certain type of R&B music. I also know that they are very popular in R&B music circles. That isnt what my discussion is about...once again, take the time to READ what I am saying.

They just havent been able to muster up the ability to LEAD a genre. These guys live in it and make money off of it. None of these guys lead it. Some of these guys like the ones mentioned have reached their peak. Jaheim, a great singer and vocalist with a great singing style/voice has no where to go but the floor after this latest project, for example.

I know you really cant judge an artist by his sales, to a certain degree. HOWEVER, the discussion is about leading the R&B genre and these guys cant expect to lead when their projects are pulling 400,000 copies.

More confusion... Certain type of R&B music??? Please explain that.

I just mentioned popular R&B artists. Sure I'll take Mario out. And I'll put maybe John Legend in there.

Same Girl is just a song with a plot. Robert likes that, obviously he watches a lot of movies. The Down Low was "No Way Out" or "Revenge" starring Kevin Costner.

Same Girl is not about passing any torch to Usher. Or rather that's not what I got from the song. They are singing about a girl.

I asked him to explain what does he mean by certain types of R&B music? There are different brands of R&B music?? I don't think he could explain himself.

Great! That's your opinion! The above is EXACTLY what this thread is trying to find out...Im not saying one way or another, I was merely posting an opinion on something I read int he Sun-Times about the song "Same Girl" and wanted to get everyone feed back.

AZ, all I got to say about this lil petty discussion is track record. We all know it.

As for the song "Same Girl", yeah I was impressed with your first post with what you thought the meaning of each line meant. But like others have said before me, I don't think it's anything more than just a simple song. However, with Kellz, you never know. So you could be on to something.

we this track first came out, i thought it could have had a underlying meaning like
r&b music, and it still could...but this wasnt an original kelly track...if yall remember them cats from atl had recorded it and kellz and em bought it or whateva....and added the second verse

^^ yep the track was bought and also the duet felt ackward as all get up. the video was cool but damn talk about dead air between those two IMO??
