This is from Quincy in the Jook Joint and From Q With Love booklets:
This is serious "sweet brown butter with a beat." I first met R. Kelly when Barry Hankerson finally took me to meet him while he was buried in a studio in Miami. It made me so happy when I heard my homeboy from Chicago had consented to visit the Jook Joint with this posse of soul singers - Ron Isley, Charlie Wilson from the Gap Band and Aaron Hall. When I first heard the demo on this tune, it had all the classic R. Kelly elements: a hypnotic pocket, a strong Fender Rhodes ostinat and a very seductive chant which he introduces and later passes on to Naomi Campbell, whom I kidnapped from The Fashion Cafe. Work with this for a minute or two.
A lot of work went into this track, and I'd bet that Q's camp actually took R. Kelly's demo and re-recorded a lot of the instruments; they obviously added the sax to it. According to the linear notes, arrangement was by Q, R, Jerry Hey (who does synths and horns mostly) and Rod Temperton (which is a kinda neat addition, if you stop and think about it). A lot of heavy weights and R pulled together for this one.
[Interesting side note; Q's Jook Joint says produced by Quincy Jones and R. Kelly, after that (eg. From Q, With Love) it always says Produced by Quincy Jones, Co-produced by R. Kelly.]
