R. Kelly recently made headlines and generated endless discussions on the blogosphere when he made an outlandish boast during an interview for the spring/summer issue of Hip-Hop Soul magazine.

"I'm the [Muhammad] Ali of today," Kelly said. "I'm the Marvin Gaye of today. I'm the Bob Marley of today. I'm the Martin Luther King, or all the other greats that have come before us. And a lot of people are starting to realize that now."
Even those who grant that Kelly is the dominant creative force in R&B today question the egotism inherent in this boast. But in the interest of exploring the comparison he made, here is a look at some of the most famous quotations by the heroes Kelly referenced along with more lyrical excerpts from his new album "Double Up."

the night before MLK was killed, in that very hotel he was shot down at he was in their fucking a caucasian woman and supposedly was screaming "I'm not a negro tonight" according to Rev Abernathy his best friend at the time.


Bob Marley was married to Rita Marley and had several kids by various other women while married to her.

Marvin Gaye also was cheater and had sex with suppsedly 2 teen females and married one and had a kid by her.

And i'm sure Ali has some skeletons in his closet, so the sun-times needs to quit acting like these people are perfect.

You took the words out of my mouth. MLK would sleep with 3 or 4 women at once. Lyndon Johnson would always hire hookers as secretaries when they discussed the Civil Rights issues and Martin took the bait every time.

Marvin Gaye was a major drug addict who beat the shit out of his elderly father before his dad shot him. And he had several relationships with under aged women too.

You're right Bob Marley had many children out of wedlock.

This is news, you all think that bashing R Kelly is a bad thing... It's not, this gives the media something to talk about. I remember when that tape first surfaced, most reporters told their story of R Kelly with a gleam in their eyes. They loved the fact that he was in trouble.

When radio stations threatened to pull Kellz music, I called the station and said "HELL NO DON'T DO NO SHIT LIKE THAT!!! I LOVE R KELLY, now play Heaven I Need A Hug." The deejay said to me that they never planned to really pull his music they just wanted to see what the reaction would be.

Every great has their personal demons that they have to deal and Chelle I take my hat off to you for pointed that out. The more negative press they give him, the more people are gonna be interested in purchasing his music.

That article just shows how much they're obsessed with and love Kellz. What hater do you know goes and listen to the artist they dislikes album and quotes over 5 songs?? I know if I hated an artist I wouldn't even wanna download the album!
