Great news! Thanks for sharing, AZ.![]()
They are indeed giving him mainstream promotion... but it doesn't surprise me that they're doing it with "Double Up". If he was going to be given some mainstream buzz I knew it was gonna happen with this type of album. Although I would've preferred it was with some others he's made in the past.
BTW, anyone knows if this is gonna be aired on MTV Europe??
Right!! Too bad to witness that. AZ brought a great news for sure. It's just that I can't seem to get the thought off my mind. I wasn't a fan during Tp2.com album era, but from what I heard from some of y'all say, it seems that he got helluva promotion for the album as well. Tp2.com album sounded very commercial as a package and looked pretty esp. to Jive executives, I guess....I've realized that even R.Kelly, one of the most commercial R&B acts, don't get mainstream push enough. So, no need to say about less-commercial R&B artists out there.
It's funny that we're all talking about this, because Kelly, for his whole career never really needed big promotion/marketing. Kelly has a core fanbase that is unbelievable. Everybody who knows anything about R&B/Soul has to know who R. Kelly is. People who aren't even fans of Kelly know that he is the greatest. White America doesn't know R. Kelly, but they know R. Kelly! They know who Usher is, and they really don't know who R. Kelly is, but they know R. Kelly is the King of R&B. It's the wierdest thing in the world, but it don't matter. Kelly is getting play, and as long as he continues to make music, the world will be listening... With, or without heavyweight marketing and promotion.
