Ex-employee claims R. Kelly beat him, stole song

A former employee of R. Kelly said in a lawsuit filed Wednesday that the singer beat him during a dispute at Kelly's home in February and cheated him out of songwriting royalties.

Henry "Love" Vaughn said in the lawsuit that he had been a longtime "mentor and guide" to Kelly.

Yet when Vaughn visited Kelly's home in Olympia Fields on Feb. 19, Kelly and others dragged him to the basement and "Kelly repeatedly struck [Vaughn] about the face and body with his fists," according to the lawsuit filed in Cook County Circuit Court.

Vaughn said Kelly also reneged on an oral agreement to pay him one-half of the money he earned from a song that was ultimately titled "Step in the Name of Love."

Vaughn provided Kelly with the "concept" for the song by suggesting that they create a song for the dance known as "Steppin,'" the lawsuit said.

A spokesman for Kelly fired back on Wednesday, calling Vaughn a "hanger-on" who was trying to extort money from Kelly.

Kelly has written more than 2,000 songs without ever using a co-writer, according to a statement released by Allan Mayer.

Vaughn's "lawsuit is a pathetic collection of half-truths, distortions, and outright lies," the statement said. "To suggest that he needed Mr. Vaughn's help to write a song—or that he offered him any portion of his songwriting royalties—is ludicrous."

Police already investigated the assault allegations and found "there was nothing to them," the statement said.

Olympia Fields police on Wednesday confirmed that they investigated the alleged assault and battery but would not discuss the incident.

"All I can tell you is that we didn't file any charges in the case," Cmdr. James Keith said. "Beyond that, I can't really say anything."

The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages for assault, false imprisonment, breach of contract and other claims.

Kelly, a Grammy Award winner, is awaiting trial on child-pornography charges for allegedly making a video showing himself having sex with a14-year-old girl. He has pleaded not guilty.

I'm not sure what 'Uncle Henry Love' looks like. I only know the name from the song. BTW, DJ Wayne Williams is also bald. It does seem that Kells usually has some bald headed dudes around him in pics.

the thing is that R.Kelly created,wrote&did the music. he gave him a shout out on the track,but R.Kelly has always mainly came up with his own stuff. believe me if there was any real truth going on with this then the Po-Po would have acted a long time ago. unless you are helping write the music or the lyrics then you didn't have anything to do with the song. Uncle Henry Love I think is the cat in the "Ignition" Video where Kellz rubs him on his bald head. Henry Love is suppose to be in his 50's&also sung background for Marvin.

R.Kelly is rough.. regardless.. ppl actin like he is this angel... SOUTHSIDE is still in him.
