Thread: Who Could Produce R. Kelly?

Back in the day it wasnt exactly the norm for the artist to be expected to produce or make the music and direct the project himself...so who do you think currently or producers of the past could bring the best out of R.
and keep him true to who he is....and maximize his voice?

By the way has anyone heard a song by jaguar wright called flower it sounds exactly like "i believe i can fly" but it doesnt have his name in the credits. It was raphael who produced that.

Nobody else but R. Kelly himself can bring the best out of R. Kelly. If somebody else produces songs for him, it can never be true to who R. Kelly is, cause R. Kelly is an artist and not some singer who sings other people's songs. And nobody but R. Kelly himself can maximize his voice, plus does anybody really think his voice needs to be maximized?

How many CDs from other artists have you bought only because they were produced by R. Kelly? Why? Because it was an R. Kelly song or album. Do you really, I mean, seriously wanna experience this phenomenon the other way around? Buy an R. Kelly album or song that is actually somebody else's? And have this other producer's fans buy R. Kelly's music only because their idol produced it for R. Kelly?

If there's one thing that I refuse to accept, it's R. Kelly singing songs that were not 100 % written, produced and arranged by none other than R. Kelly.
Enough said. No really, this is one thing that I get damn emotional over.

I think I'm going to have nightmares tonight. Damn, I have chills running down my spine right now ... it's like fingernails scratching on a chalkboard.

dude is a known Song-jacker. if you listen closely to those Tony,Toni,Tone Albums you would be sitting there playing name that tune.Raphael can Play,but he ain't the most Original Cat on the scene.

let me see, Thom Bell comes to mind, Marvin Gaye, but the main person to me would be Charles Stepney.go back to the Older Earth,wind&Fire Albums&between 73-76 Charles Stepney was on those EWF Albums with his trademark Arrangements. Stepney died 30 years back way too soon,but dude had a touch on the Elements. He was the Chi as well. Stepney Co-wrote, arranged&produced Reasons for EWF. take those arrangements&bring it to today&it would be awesome.Stepney co-Wrote,Co-Arranged&Co produced the song "that's the way of the world" now fast forward to R.Kelly's Stepping music with either Paul Riser's string arrangements or Larry Gold's String Arrangements&then get back to me. nobody today really can take R.kelly anywhere. now take a cat like Rich Harrison with the heavy percussion beats&Go-Go vibe, if he came with some real musicianship like how Chuck brown came on his cover of R's "Fiesta" then you might have something there,but alot of these cats today either play over loops, samples,breaks or just try to ride a vamp&these cats want to be more seen as Slashers producer&writer as to just Songwriter. now cats in Hip-Hop like Dr.Dre,Dj Quik could be interesting,but again would they go to a whole fuller level if working with R?
