Name your Top 5 Vocal Performance with number 1 being the best

You're so beautiful... How can I make you understand that I wanna kiss and I wanna touch every little inch of your body. - R. Kelly
Kinda hard to put them in order but anyway I'll try:
1. A Soldier's Heart (the album version & AOL live version)
2. Touched A Dream
3. Fly
4. U Saved Me
5. I Don't Mean It
Hmm ... I can't rank them in any order, but I'll try to strip my list down to 5:
Hold On
Naked
You Made Me Love You
Peace
Don't Let Me Die
I tried to make it a versatile list including a slow ballad, a bedroom masterpiece, a soulful love song, an emotional call for humanity and a raw prayer in a choking voice. I think these five really showcase what R. Kelly is able to do vocally.
The final two songs I had to cross off the list were Fly (I decided it's not a 2000's song cause it was probably done around the R. time) and The Storm Is Over Now (a vocal masterpiece, but I figured Hold On was the stronger ballad).
Wow...great thread, and like all these 'Top 5' based things...almost near impossible!

...But I like the way The R broke it down, so Im gonna follow his lead...with a sprinkling of 'influence' from Sister H!

In no particular order...
Oh shoot, Im already struggling...hmmm...hmmm...Ok:
'Soldier's Heart' - The AOL session was just mind blowing, so that was a must!
'Loveland' - A tribute in part to Marvin Gaye, and Rob really did his thing on the accapella introduction and then laid it down from start to finish...awesome!
'Forever' - Taking it to Church, Sangin' with soo much feelin', but yet somehow having the smoothness of lullaby...incredible background vocals too...timeless!
'Prayer Changes' - I had to pick something from 'U Saved Me' and I dont know if its the vocals or just the sentiment of the song...either way I love it, along with the whole album and this was my pick...I feel every word of this song, and Rob's vocal delivery must be commended for that...this is an illustration of his subtlety which I dont believe anyone else has the ability to convey in such a moving way...masterful!
Now Im a throw my wild card...
'Burn It Up' - not a song I listen to on a regular basis, but have heard many times in clubs in Europe...and the impact it has, especially in terms of people trying to sing it is immense...and also very intense! I wud struggle to tell u a name of another Reggaeton song, but of those that I have heard vocally nobody can touch Rob...so this is a man stepping into someone else's territory and owning the field...that takes an incredible amount of ability, and most definitely versatility.
(Incidently 'Dont Let Me Die' is an awesome song vocally, especially the Native American ad-libs at the end...but this is along with soo many other songs 'Far More', 'What Do I Do', 'Heart Of A Woman', 'I'll Never Leave', 'Step In The Name Of Love' (Original & Remix), 'Happy People' (entire album), 'Dream Girl', 'Some Things Never Change', 'Make You My Baby', 'You Bring Me Joy', 'The World's Greatest', 'The Storm Is Over Now', 'The Greatest Sex', 'Naked', 'Touched A Dream'...etc, etc!!

You know what this is like an impossible to answer type thread that's why I made it. To shake up the board just a lil bit make them want to think and remember the songs that makes R. Kelly the best in R&B... Kind of a side topic to my thread on is R. Kelly still the King we need something to talk about so here it goes...
By way for some reason I know my top 5 will never stay the same because in my mind its too many good tracks for it to be a top 5 with Kells you should have the top 200 songs lol.

Its very funny that we have to be 'reminded' dont you think? People always seem to say that R. Kelly fans are biased but actually we are more critical than any other fans because we know the greatness, and amazing abilities of the man...this is why we strive for him to produce his best in every single song...combine that with the fact that we know he is soo much better than anyone out there, we want to see and feel that all the time!

1. Beyonce feat. R.Kelly - If I Were A Boy Remix -- It seems like the song was his which he featured Beyonce. That's how good it was!
2. I Believe (Obama Tribute) -- I Believe... In the future! And a change is coming to America. Need I say more?
3. If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time -- A masterpiece!
4. Hold On Ali Movie Score -- DVD Scene Selection Ali vs. Quarry 1:35:59/ The Lyrics are different but better. Just to bad you can't hear the full version! Beautiful track!
5. Naked!
Just to remind you that this thread is for songs that came out in the '00s ;)

I am definitely humbled by the depth of your responses. So I gotta try and get a list together--but vocal performance... , that is a good one... something I've just begun appreciating lately, which is why I agree with RK12 about If I Could Turn Back The Hands Of Time, even though it is pre-00.
1) Love Signals, maybe not strictly a vocal performance, but this song always blows me away.
2) Real Talk, Okay, maybe not quite in the theme others seem to be following, but how freakin talented do you have to be to write and perform a song that is one side of an argument? The crescendo at the end is awesome.
3) I Mean (I Don't Mean it) yeah, you know
4) When I Think About You... I love the other suggestions from U Saved Me people posted, so I had to post my current fave from that album. The Hey Hey Hey at the end always makes me happy.
5) I Wish... this seems like more of a vocal performance to me than the other song I wanted on this list: Heaven I Need A Hug, so I Wish makes the list, but both songs evoke a part of R. Kelly that I really like.
Here is the question: has R. Kelly ever done a song that isn't a vocal performance? Even the song, Hit It Til The Morning... when R. comes in after the other guys, he is just insanely awesome!
Hey V.I.P--I've been thinking a lot about my thread... and I'm glad you are still thinking of yours. It's just brewing a little longer.
