Thread: R. Kelly's most underrated single?

What do y'all think was the most underrated Kells track to be released as a single? It could be any aspect - from a critical viewpoint, commercial/chart success or video etc.

I thought about this the other day when I was watching the video for 'A Woman's Threat'. That to me is Kells most underrated single. Critically the song is slept on despite being a brilliant track, clever concept, incredible production and arrangements. Chart wise it only made it to #35 on the R&B chart in early 2001 and didn't chart on the Hot 100. The video was visually impressive too and suited the mood of the song perfectly.

An honorable mention to 'Slow Wind'

Yes, I would agree with what you say about Slow Wind....but that entire cd was an industry thing and nobody pushed anything and once TITC started Kellz himself only focused on that, which was probably the smart thing to do seeing that it was received very well.

Happy People, (at least in Germany), I saw it on TV like once, and nobody would feel it (except me)

I agree, A womans threat was one of my all-time favorites!!

very Good topic: I gotta say in the 90's that it is "I'm your Angel". I mean He made a track with Celine Dion that had emotion and worked. it worked with His Audience and with her Audience. those vocals between the two and the lyrics truly hit home. I think it's a very slept on taken for granted track IMO.

in the 00's i gotta say:U Saved Me" I mean the story-telling and it got a good reception in the Church crowd folk,but in general it got slept on,but He was Singing and feeling on that track.

A lot of people don't like it, but "Thank God It's Friday" is a hot song.

Yep, co-sign. The same with Step in the name of love Remix. Both are one of his best songs but they didn't get any attention in Germany. I wish Remix wasn't really a single but it's my second favourite song and video, so I think it deserved more attention.

i think it was slow wind too. i thought it was a GREAT song.
