Thread: R.Kelly Street Corners

One more gain, it's me! Y'all remember the old days were singers and groups started singing under street lights either trying to win a girls heart or either trying to be discovered? In old interviews we saw R.Kelly street performing. My question to y'all especially the shorties (the ladies), how would you feel if R.Kelly made an entire album showcasing his street corner singing?

The old DoWop harmony... I'm from Philadelphia it probably started there, all those brothers out on the corner ain't singing no more. They shooting craps and selling dope. If Kells started that trend the police might start putting brothers on lock down...

At the time when this thread was made, I found it intresting but didn't know what to say. Really don't get the clear picture of what can be called "street corner singing album." Maybe it could be music with more spontaneity, ad-lib, freestyle, on-the spur-of-the moment variations?

I made this thread cause in I Can't Sleep Remix video R.Kelly sings outside some shorty's window. And it reminded me of that old street corner style. I think in stead of keeping that style R.Kelly could sing acapella with a touch of that old style in it. Like make, maybe a unreleased track or one of those track he puts out to keep him going until his official new material comes out. I don't know! LOL! Hey... If Boyz II Men could remake In The Still Of The Night why our boy do one. LOL!

Appreciate the explanation. I kinda get the concept. Never say never...I think it's not far-fetched to think of an album titled "R.Kelly-Street Corners" comin out in the future. Something like, a semi-greatest hits album with some unreleased tracks on it or a full compilation of unreleased tracks. And the unrelased tracks gotta have that street corner signing vibe. You remember the segment of BET show that aired after his first album reached platinum?

Not really! I remember where they showed him playing the keyboard on the subway. I guess my concept is probably what everybody probably wants is an acapella cd. I just thought him doing that street corner style and how they use to perform in the military would be great to hear from our boy. Them boys could really sing back then.

That's what I was talkin about. Him playing the keyboard and singing in the Chicago subway station like he'd done before blowing up with the first album. They were filming him reliving the times. I thought you had that vibe in your mind making this thread. Street corner style a capella would be cool. We'd hear him singing at the top of his lungs. He said that's how he trained his pipe and the direct outcome is the way he sings on the debut and 12 Play album.

When A Woman Loves matches this thread I wrote a while back. It looks like an almost perfect prediction just with music that's all!
